There something special about personalized gifts. Once, when my daughter was six years old, I gave her a particular present. She had been wanting a couple of princess dresses so I secretly got a couple of them and wrapped them neatly. To finish off the gift, I used some color pipe cleaners and formed them into a flower. As time passed, she obviously grew out of the dresses and lost interest in Disney princesses. However, the little flower is something she was adamant about keeping for several years.
It’s time to put away those white capris and floral flip-flops because fall is officially here. Temperatures have been dropping and the cold weather clothes are finally coming out of the closet. Last week, we received an invitation to a friend’s ‘couple’ bridal shower. Out of all the pre-wedding festivities, bridal showers that are for both the husband- and wife-to-be are my favorite. It’s a great chance to visit with the couple when they’re not preoccupied with wedding plans and there aren’t any embarrassing shower games (or at least not that many). With whole families present, the atmosphere is generally warm and jovial as the two get closer to becoming one.
