Celebrate Earth Day 2012 With BBC #EarthDay

Do you know what’s happening on 4/22? It’s Earth Day! This is a great time to do some earth-themed projects and focus on going (and staying) green. It’s also a great time to watch those fabulously beautiful films from BBC Home Entertainment. Check this out:

BBC is celebrating Earth Day with the release of the new series Frozen Planet on DVD/Blu-ray as well as the re-release of some of their most famous nature programs such as Planet Earth, Blue Planet and more. Additionally, they are hosting a sweepstakes for the Ultimate Polar Bear Adventure. These shows are great educational programming and perfect for family viewing on Earth Day!

In addition to letting you know about that awesome sweepstakes (which I entered too), I get to give away three AMAZING prize packs! You’re going to love this:

  • Planet Earth DVD Limited Edition Globe ( 6-disc set)
    Blue Planet DVD (2-disc set)
  • Frozen Planet DVD (3-disc set)
    Frozen Planet Hat
    Theatrical Poster for Frozen Planet
  • BBC Natural History Collection DVD (18-disc set)

My Friendship Bracelet Maker Traveler & My Ribbon Barrette Maker

Wondering how to keep the kids/tweens busy at home or while traveling? You may be interested in the new My Friendship Bracelet Maker Traveler and My Ribbon Barrette Maker. Don’t worry, the main site features instructional videos as well as written instructions for beginners and novices alike.

Friendship bracelets have been something fun to make and share for decades. With the My Friendship Bracelet Maker Traveler your kids can make them wherever they go. No more taping the strings to table, desks, or chairs or forgetting which string is which. With a handy-dandy clip to keep the bracelet in place, 10 slots to hold those strings taut, and a tray to keep new supplies the Traveler is a great item. The included instructions cover the basic knots used and how to get started. Those can also be found online with additional patterns.

My daughter did great on her bracelet but I can’t tell you much about it since she’s making it for a surprise gift. I decided to make one too and tried an intermediate pattern for the bracelet I made. What nostalgia!

Jabra SPORT & Jabra JOURNEY, #Giveaway Ends 4/8

Jabra is known for their quality hands-free headsets and speakerphones. Two of their newest products are the Jabra SPORT and the Jabra JOURNEY. Before I get into a full review of each, here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Jabra SPORT – a wireless headset meant for those with an active lifestyle, allowing them to workout to their favorite music and be accessible by phone without fussing with dangling cords
  • Jabra JOURNEY – for crystal clear conversations on a bluetooth-enabled speakerphone which discreetly clips to your car visor

So let’s start with the Jabra SPORT. I love the fact that it is wireless and so easy to pair with your phone via Bluetooth.

K’Nex Cosmic Twist Coaster

UPDATE: Giveaway added below!

I was curious as to what was in the box addressed to ‘Mom Blogger’. It was a K’Nex Cosmic Twist Coaster set! In unison my husband and daughter exclaimed, “Cool!” Yes, it even included a motor! We knew this would be quite a lengthy project so it was difficult to take out the time to devote to it. Finally, we had the chance to put it together this past weekend.

This particular set is suggested for ages 9 and up. As this was our first K’Nex project, it was really a challenge to understand the instructions and learn how to assemble basic parts. I now understand why this is classified as an ‘advanced’ set! Unless your child is familiar with building other K’Nex structures, it would be wise to have a mechanically-inclined adult or two help out.
