In Georgia, there lies a HUGE slab of granite just popping up out of the earth. Stone Mountain is a unique and memorable place to visit when going visiting Atlanta, Georgia. From the mostly flat landscape of the state the famous landmark seems a bit out of place but has come to be a great destination spot for locals and tourists alike.
With the sun shining and ‘tourist’ mode on we were geared up and reader to make the hike up the mountain. Much of the way was fairly gentle incline but it did become a bit steeper as we ascended. Even with a four-year-old the climb up was very doable and a wonderful view awaited us at the top. We were fortunate to have made the trip on a clear day and the vantage point we had was indescribable. Stone Mountain does not have a real peak in the sense of one elevated tip. Instead, the area was very broad and did not feel crowded even with several others touring the same space.
