[iPhone/iPad App] Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell

Way back when, my daughter used to play Freddi Fish and other Humongous games on the PC. It was easy enough for me to move the mouse but it was much harder for her little hands. I LOVE the migration to the iPad! It is the perfect platform for this game, fully allowing children ages 4 and up to enjoy it!

In Freddi Fish and the Stolen Shell, Freddi Fish and her friend Luther are excited for the Founder’s Day Festival. Too bad Uncle Blenny has been put into jail due to the missing Great Conch Shell, without which the festival cannot begin. Your child will help the two sleuthing fish solve the mystery to find the shell, save the festival, and free Uncle Blenny.

[iPhone/IPad App] Whole Wide World

Have you been looking from some educational but fun apps for your children? I recently stumbled across a brand new app called Whole Wide World. Children ages 5-8 will ‘travel’ to different countries and learn about their culture and geography.

Whole Wide World is a part of the Fingerprint network of apps for kids. You may have to help your child set up a few things before they can play this app. After an explorer is chosen, scroll around the globe to select a country.

Each country has a unique, costumed tour guide to lead your child through games and share with them fun facts. Some of the guides speak with a slight accent based on the area they are from. This is really cute and enhances the traveling experience. I hope they add this for all the countries at one point.

[iPhone/iPad App] Draw Something

Have you started to play the new game, Draw Something, on your iPhone or iPad? If not, why?!

There have been a great many of attempts to come up with fun social games in which people can instantaneously play with their friends, no matter where they might be. Some have been good while others missed the mark completely. This app is in a category of its own – it’s DRAWSOME!

The idea is simple. Log in with your email or Facebook account. Invite friends to play a game. Draw one of the three given words and let your friend guess what it is using the several letters provided. It’s like Pictionary without the yelling and public embarrassment, which is a good thing. You may think you know your family and friends but you get a whole new view of them when you see how and what they draw. We even have games going with some family in the Netherlands! It’s hilarious!

[iPad App] who? Comics

Thank you to who?Comics for sponsoring this post and encouraging my child to read biographies in comic book form! Please click here to learn more about the app. And follow who? Comics on Twitter for updates!

Let’s just say that I am less than enthused when it comes to history and social studies. That’s why I was very excited, as was my daughter, to try the new who? Biography Comics app for the iPad.

[iPhone App] Monster Pet Shop

Looking for a light yet enjoyable iPhone app? Then you might want to check out Monster Pet Shop for the iPhone (free). As the name implies, the whole idea of the game is to run a ‘pet’ shop carrying monsters. That includes breeding them, caring for them, and fulfilling customer requests. Did I mention that these weird little creatures are super cute and funny? Well they are!

Your job is to run the monster pet shop your uncle gave you. After an egg has been incubated, you will need to raise the soon-to-hatch monster so that it can be sold in the store. Periodically the monster will need to be fed and its habitat cleaned until it reaches the next stage of maturity. Later you will need to pet the monster in it’s favorite spot (usually the belly or head). Each monster has a favorite toy that they will ask to play with too. I love how the Krakel enjoys playing with the disco wig!
