“Chaaaaa-lie!” That is a phrase you hear often in ‘Charlie & Lola‘ episodes. If you are not familiar with this series in either its book or television form, you are missing out. The delightful escapades of this cute brother/sister pair culminate in an ongoing collection of charming, sweet, silly, and enjoyable stories that my daughter, my husband, and I still enjoy.
Charlie is a 7-8 year-old boy that is the perfect brother to his little 4-5 year-old sister, Lola. They get along amazingly well and Charlie is always patient and kind to his sister. Lola is a bit mischievous and stubborn, yet she is quick to listen to her brother even if learning a lesson is involved.
The stories revolve around Lola and how Charlie cleverly helps Lola to be a kind, sweet girl. Other characters that round out the story are Lotta (Lola’s friend), Marv (Charlie’s friend), Sizzles (Marv’s dog), and Soren Lorenson (Lola’s imaginary friend).

Books
The art takes some getting used to as it initially brings to mind the adjective ‘messy’. Yet the colorful and crisp images grow on you as you fondly take your child through the adventures that are so easy to relate to. Even the manner in which the text is on the page brings fun to an already great story.
Television Episodes
Oh it so much fun to hear all the characters speak with a British accent! The music is upbeat and memorable. Episodes are so light and positive that you won’t mind your child wanting to watch them again and again. In fact, you’ll probably want to sit and watch with them.
Toys
Okay, I admit it. I actually accepted this review because the toys were just so cool! My daughter quickly adopted the talking, posable figures into her ‘favorites’ clan. While I was shooting this example video, my daughter was cracking up. She thought it was funny to see her mom playing with the character dolls.
As mentioned before, we love ‘Charlie & Lola’ and this is the perfect gift set for any child.
