Hampton Creek – Using Science for a Worthy Egg Substitute, #Giveaway Ends 8/17

With my husband having a major food allergy, I understand how hard it is to avoid certain ingredients. If something doesn’t have wheat in it, it has corn and I just found out I have a sensitivity to that. Still, we’re able to get by with an array of gluten- and corn-free items. However, it’s not so easy with other dietary restrictions. Finding a tasty egg substitute is practically impossible because it’s more about the bonding power then it is about the taste. For those with an egg allergy, high cholesterol, or who would rather not eat items from cramped, overworked chickens, there is a better solution.

Hampton Creek’s Search for an Egg Substitute

Hampton Creek is a local startup that has merge science with food by creating plant-based egg alternatives. Ambitious as they are, the founders went after the item hardest to “crack” without using eggs – mayonnaise. And they did it! This video from Bloomberg TV shows you how:

Pretty amazing, right? I know for a fact that not all mayonnaise is created equal. If you don’t have a good mayo, it’s next to impossible to make a killer potato salad or deviled eggs.

Not only did they successfully create their tasty but affordable Just Mayo, but Hampton Creek even released two additional flavors of Sriracha Mayo and Garlic Mayo. You’ll find Just Mayo products in grocery biggies across the country like Whole Foods, Safeway, some Costco locations, and even at the Dollar Tree. See? I told you that it’s affordable! Hopefully their cookie dough will soon be available just as widely.
