Make-A-Wish Help Wish Kids Take Flight + World Wish Day, Partnered Conversation…

From pregnancy until now, we’ve been very fortunate with my daughter. Everything has gone fairly smoothly and she hasn’t had any serious illnesses so far. It pains me to know that some parents / children have not had such an experience. It’s bad enough for anyone to have to cope with a life-threatening medical condition but that’s so much worse for a child. Instead of playing, running about, being wild, and living carefree, many children are faced with surgeries, heavy medication, and painful treatments everyday. That’s why I feel Make-A-Wish® is such a beautiful charity, generously granting wishes to children such as these.

Make-A-Wish is running a nationwide campaign from now until April 29th (World Wish Day®) to “Help Wish Kids Take Flight“. This special campaign is to raise dollars and airline miles for wishes that involve travel. I was shocked to learn that almost 14,000 life-changing wishes were granted last year.

Can you imagine the impact such a ‘granted wish’ could have on a child that faces hospitalization and needles and tests on a regular basis?! In some cases, it has even been a turning point for some in getting better. If any of these wishes involve air travel, though, it can be quite costly. Flying a child to their dream destination along with their family can add up quickly. The following statement was pretty sobering to me:

Nearly 75 percent of wishes require air travel, making it a critical – and costly – resource. In fact, approximately 50,000 airline tickets, the equivalent of 2.5 billion airlines miles or $37.5 million, would be needed each year to cover the cost associated with sending wish kids and their families to and from these incredible experiences.

That’s huge! Right now, you can help Make-A-Wish grant more wishes by donating frequent flier miles or dollars to wish.org/tickets. Plus, any miles you donate will be double or tripled! As an extra incentive, WWE Superstar John Cena will personally match EVERY frequent flier mile that’s donated this month, up to 4.5 million. United Airlines is also supporting this campaign by matching donation of its MileagePlus members, up to 3 million. That’s a lot of miles!

Your support can aid in helping to change the lives of wish kids, their families, and everyone touched by these wishes. There’s only a short time left so hurry and “Help Wish Kids Take Flight“!

This year, 10,000 wish kids and their families will travel for a Make-A-Wish® experience. That’s 50,000 roundtrip tickets or 2.5 billion frequent flier miles. In honor of World Wish Day®, the day of the wish that inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish, visit wish.org/tickets and donate miles and dollars – and help wish kids take flight.
