Marvel’s The Avengers Breaks the Box Office #TheAvengersEvent

by TerriAnn

Yep, I already knew it but now it’s official – Marvel’s The Avengers rocks and the numbers prove it (see below)! Its opening weekend was phenomenal! Good job getting those families to see it, mamas!

Marvels' The Avengers movie film

For those that haven’t seen it yet, if you’re not already a fangirl, you will be by the time you exit the theater! I still have to see it in 3D but my hubs has been sick all weekend. For those that did see it, did you love it?

The Walt Disney Studios announced today that Marvel’s The Avengers posted an estimated $200.3 million in its domestic debut May 4-6, shattering previous records and positioning the film as the highest-grossing domestic debut of all time. The film’s cumulative global box office gross is an estimated $641.8 million over 12 days in release.
In just three days, Marvel’s the Avengers is the fastest movie to reach $200 million domestically. The domestic debut kicked off Friday, May 4 and marks the second highest single day take of all time at $80.5 million. Saturday’s box office gross of $69.7 million is the highest Saturday take of all time. Moviegoers gave Marvel’s The Avengers a rare and perfect A+ CinemaScore.

We went yesterday and watched it in 3D! I’m glad we got there early because there was quite a line for the showtime we wanted! This is definitely a great movie to spend the extra $2 on for 3D! We loved it and the special effects were really awesome. I loved the humor, we will be buying it when it comes out on DVD 🙂

Good to know. We hope to get to a 3D one this week sometime if my husband ever gets over his cough/cold. Wasn’t it hilarious?! There were several lines I missed because others were laughing to loud 😛 Glad you liked it! They really did a superb job!

I can’t wait to see the Avengers. My husband went to see it and really enjoyed it. I am not surprised it did so well.

Well, they actually tried to cater to the female audiences more so I’m sure you’ll like it if you enjoy any kind of action films 🙂

I cannot wait to see this. Not only does it have some of my fave super heroes but it was directed by Joss Whedon from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. LOVE HIM!!!

Oh, he did such a good job making all these characters come together smoothly. I now know why he’s so revered in this genre!
