After 16 years of marriage and 15 years of motherhood, I’ve discovered something — I don’t take enough care of myself. After making sure my family is fed, homeschooling my daughter, and working from home full-time, not much energy or time is left to think about what I need. This leads to a lot of stress and lowers my self-esteem, productivity, and overall happiness. That’s not good and it’s no wonder I’ve had some crazy burnout to deal with the past several months!

National Women’s Health Week — Putting Our Health First

Sadly, I don’t think I’m the only woman to find herself in this cycle. With so much on our plates, it’s quite easy to put ourselves last after caring for the family. To do something about it, I have partnered with Colgate Total® for a special campaign in honor of National Women’s Health Week coming up this month (May 8-14, 2016). I have been asked to put my health first with the Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen. Small changes can make a huge difference and just making slight adjustments can improve overall health and wellness.

This past week, I was in Southern California for a business conference. Although I was in “business mode” most of the time, I did take some time out to recharge. Taking in the gorgeous views along the coast and breathing in that fresh ocean breeze worked wonders on this tired 30-something. It was amazing how even a few minutes to myself could feel so good. As part of the campaign with Colgate Total®, I made sure to snap a “healthy selfie” showing how I’m taking steps to focus on my health.

I can also adjust my daily routine. By using Colgate Total® Daily Repair toothpaste and mouthwash, I can start to reverse that everyday damage to my teeth. After all, I could use all the help available to make my smile shine brighter! Plus, I really like the fact that both products have a mild mint flavor that’s refreshing yet not overpowering. National Women’s Health Week — A Better You is Better for Everyone

From here on out, I hope to take out more “me time” to become a better mom, better wife, and better person altogether. I would love to see you also pledge to put your health first and share a selfie using the hashtag #MyColgateSelfie. National Women’s Health Week starts in just a few days. Let’s work together to prioritize our own health again!
