The very first time I visited the San Diego Safari Park (known as the Wild Animal Park back then) was when Munchkin was small. What stood out most in my mind was the tram tour. The area was so expansive that we actually saw full-grown giraffes running! What a sight! Ever since then I have been wanting to return for another visit and, just last month, my family and I were able to go back. San Diego Safari Park was just as wonderful as I remember. Plus, the weather was perfect — not too hot and with a cool breeze!

One whole day was not nearly enough to see everything but we thoroughly enjoyed the animals we did see since they were all so active. Several baby and juvenile animals, like the five-month-old tiger, were out and were adorable! During our lunch, we were awed by the prehistoric-looking Shoebill Stork that makes a hollow clacking noise when eating. Have you ever seen a bat urinating? I have now and it’s so weird! I mean, it makes total sense that it would flip right-side-up to avoid any, ahem, leaks from getting in its eyes but it was still a strange sight.

I could go on and on but I think the photos from our trip will make a deeper impact 🙂

San Diego Wild Animal Park — Additional Experiences

As mentioned, we were only able to visit a small portion of the park this time around. Hopefully, we’ll be able to visit again soon to see the rest. We have a good excuse to go back since we ended up buying a year membership for Munchkin (it was the same price as a one-day admission for a teenager) and we have family living nearby. I would LOVE to do some of the VIP experiences such as riding in the safari trucks, doing the zip line, riding the hot air Balloon Safari, etc. Those are all extra, though, so we’ll need to save up before doing those.

Have you ever visited the San Diego Safari Park?

This is NOT a sponsored post and I (sadly) did not receive any discount on our park admission. We just had a great time and I wanted to share it with you 🙂

Thank you 🙂 Of course I don’t mind asking. The photos are mostly from our Sony a6000 (mirrorless) with the kit zoom lens and a few are from my iPhone 6 Plus.

Wow, what awesome pictures! My husband went there a few months ago with my son and his class on their 3rd grade field trip. He said it’s changed since he went there on the last field trip. That hot air balloon ride is definitely new.

Thank you! If you can visit, I would definitely recommend it 🙂 I’m not sure about things changing but the park is just a great way to spend the day! Plus, I hear they have baby cheetahs now!
