What’s for Dinner?

I hate that dreaded question. I mean, EVERY day I have to plan 3+ meals. Well yesterday it just wasn’t happening. It was that ‘time’ for me and I had zero energy. Instead of going hungry or breaking our budget by going out, my husband and daughter cooked!

When my husband came back from the Netherlands, he brought a bunch of spices that you just cannot get here. One of those dishes is called Roti and it’s not the same as the Indian Roti we know here. It’s a Surinamese dish that combines marinated chicken, string beans, potatoes, and sometimes hard-boiled egg in a nice curry. You then eat it with an accompanying pancake. That what they made for us yesterday.

My daughter decided to make a menu for our evening meal and my hubby was set with his beer. It turned out really well and it was so nice to eat something different. Especially since I wasn’t feeling good, it was such a special treat. Speaking of making dinner, it’s that time again. And what did I hear the family say?

“What’s for dinner?” Oh, a mother’s job is never done . . .

I hear What’s For Dinner everyday multiple times. The joys of being the mommy to 4 kids! I totally enjoy the times when I get to take a break from cooking…….

Yes, but those breaks are far and few between. You poor thing, having all those mouths to feed and all those requests of what to make each night :)

Now it's your turn to share...
