Ahhhh! I love him/her!

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 2:24 pm

Really? What an unexpected reaction 😛 It’s a him – only the males have the long snout (which we just found out too).

It was our first time as well. They’re just so unreal and, well, bizarre!

Awesome picture!!! I think he/she is cute!

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 2:34 pm

Cute? Hmm, I guess so if you squint really hard and tilt your head 45 degrees… It’s a male btw 🙂

They really are odd things, eh?

Danielle @Royalegacy February 22, 2012 - 11:08 am

When I was up there last year, I met the woman who blogs about the Elephant Seals there. Here is her blog:
http://elsealnotes.blogspot.com/. You’ll find all you need to know about them there.

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 2:37 pm

That’s great to know – I’ll link to her on tomorrow’s post 🙂 Stay tuned…we had a great trip in that area and I’ll be putting up several posts of fun things to do and where to stay 🙂 I’d love your suggestions as well for a repeat trip!

Maryann February 22, 2012 - 12:13 pm

Crystal @ Simply Being Mommy February 22, 2012 - 3:30 pm

Wow, you’ve been getting some really amazing shots lately. Are you doing a bunch of traveling?

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 5:04 pm

This particular one was from this past weekend but most from trips taken a few years ago. There’s no way I could travel to a new place each week 🙂 It’s just a good way of building my travel section and showing off some cool shots we’ve gotten over the years!

carolyn g February 22, 2012 - 3:51 pm

Awwww!!

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 5:04 pm

Cookies & Clogs February 22, 2012 - 5:05 pm

Oh? This was the first time I’ve seen them in real life and they were so odd to me. Tomorrow I’ll be posting some video footage 🙂

Cat Davis February 22, 2012 - 5:08 pm

It’s pathetic but I have to ask what that is??? A seal, walrus?

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 11:03 pm

It’s a see-rus! Just kidding – they are called elephant seals and you can see how the male snort resembles a trunk 🙂

melissa February 22, 2012 - 6:37 pm

I say cute but strange-lol:)

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 11:02 pm

So true but it was really cool seeing them ‘relatively’ close-up.

Katy February 22, 2012 - 8:40 pm

What a great expression. It almost looks as though he were posing..

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 11:02 pm

I know – aren’t his big, round eyes great?!

Lynsey @MoscatoMom February 22, 2012 - 9:26 pm

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 11:01 pm

Haha, yep. He’s just so bizarre that you can’t stop looking at him 😛

Brandy February 22, 2012 - 11:04 pm

What an interesting photo. I can imagine you had a great time.

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 11:00 pm

Oh, it was just so fantastic. I wish all vacations were this relaxing!

Brandy February 23, 2012 - 7:52 am

You seem to have a lot of experiences … and capture great pictures! This is too cute!

Cookies & Clogs February 25, 2012 - 10:59 pm

It doesn’t seem like it to us but, as we go through our pictures and document them through the blog, we find that we’ve had a chance to do quite a bit as a family. Though not photography experts, both my husband and I appreciate nice ‘kodak moments’. My daughter is getting a bit of a photography bug as well 🙂

Kasandria Reasoner February 23, 2012 - 1:49 pm

I can actually say I’ve never seen one of those before. Interesting
