National Consumer Panel (NCP)

I’m now a part of the National Consumer Panel (formerly known as Nielsen Homescan). That means I get this fun scanner (that’s about the size of a t.v. remote) to record all the purchases I make each week. It’s much smaller than I had anticipated.

I had input my shopping trip from yesterday and it was actually very interesting. It was a bit of a bother recording a trip to Costco, though, because the bar codes are unique to Costco and I had to manually input the price of each item. You also need to add if you used any coupons or if the item was discounted due to a store special.

By recording all the purchases you and your family make, you are able to do 2 things. First of all, you can give valuable input on the kinds of items that you use so companies can serve you better.
