Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Disney's Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day family movie for the whole family
Disney’s heartwarming comedy will have your entire family laughing out loud. Based on the best-selling book, it follows the exploits of Alexander as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life and wonders if bad things only happen to him. But he discovers he’s not alone when his dad (Steve Carell), mom (Jennifer Garner) and family live through their own terrible – and hilarious – day. It will tickle everyone’s funny bone, and warm their hearts as they discover how even on rotten days, families can grow closer.

That baby was just adorable! I couldn’t help but laugh every time I saw his bright green mouth though. Steve Carrell does an amazing job as usual and it was funny to see the usually calm Jennifer Garner get a bit stress-crazy, something all us moms can understand. The bloopers were fantastic and I couldn’t tell one bit that the main child actor, Ed Oxenbould, was actually Australian.

I first saw this movie during a flight to Detroit, MI and couldn’t wait to watch it again with my family. The humor is clean and the focus on the importance of family in tough times is touching. The pace and storyline is somewhat subdued so while it won’t be a favorite that gets played over and over again, it’s at least safe to put on if you have a ton of kids over.

Bonus Features Include:

  • Alexander . . . In Real Life
  • Snappy Crocs & Punch Roos: The Australian Outback Party
  • Walkabout: A Video Diary
  • And The Delightful, Magnificent, Very Good Bloopers
  • “Hurricane” by the Vamps – Music Video

That was also one of my favorite books from childhood, and I was thrilled to see it portrayed on the big screen. I can’t wait to see it again!
