When I was younger, I used to tease my mom mercilessly when she would tear up during movies. The ‘tough’ kid I was thought it was so funny that she could cry during sappy chick flicks. Well, no matter how much we fight it, there are somethings we just cannot avoid.

As I got older, I became more and more sensitive to any ‘moving’ moments on screen, even if they were animated. Oh, no, I was becoming my mother. Payback had begun . . .

### Becoming My Mother – The Vicious Cycle of Life

With a daughter of my own, the cycle continues. Every time we watch a movie, my daughter and husband just wait for when, not if, I start tearing up and becoming a hot sobbing mess. Munchkin’s been a bit more forgiving than I was as a child. Instead of teasing me she’d jump up to grab me some tissues and make sure I was okay. Her facial expressions always gave her amusement away though.

But, this story doesn’t end there. The other night, while watching the movie *13 Going on 30*, my daughter actually cried a little bit! She turned to look at me and I turned to look at her and we were both teary-eyed! It was so cute how she was kind of laughing at herself. Hahaha, now my practically 13-year-old daughter is already starting to turn into me!

Frans took a couple photos to commemorate the occasion but, of course, those had to be sworn to family secrecy 🙂
