“I’m not tired!” “My ankle hurts!” “I have to go potty again!” “I’m hungry!” “I forgot to brush my teeth!” “I didn’t say good night yet!” The excuses go on and on. There’s something about bed time that makes every child dread it. They can come up with an innumerable amount of irrelevant and nonsensical reasons of why they can’t go to sleep at that moment.
Neverending Bedtime Excuses
Stalling to go to sleep is just a part of being a kid. In fact, it’s so common that Netflix reports that “more than 60% of parents around the globe are dealing with kids’ stall tactics before bed, adding up to nearly 20 minutes every single night.” No wonder us parents are tired all of the time! We use up all of our energy trying to get our kids to bed that we have no energy left afterwards!
It doesn’t matter how good of a bedtime routine you’ve tried to set or how thoroughly you have gotten them ready to sleep, they will still find ways of staying up just that much longer. Just the other night, my 14-year-old daughter was caught playing on her phone after lights out. Her explanation? “I just felt like playing a game.” Well, okay then…
Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites
Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Instead of waiting for them to grow out it, Netflix and DreamWorks Animation are giving parents the advantage when it comes to the bedtime battle. When your child pleads for just five more minutes, you can simply stream an episode of Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites. The three episodes are only five minutes each from start to finish.
What are the craziest excuses to not go to sleep that you’ve heard?
I received a year subscription of Netflix and a device to stream the content as part of the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions are my own.
