Do you have a local, neighborhood toy store? Here in San Mateo we have a huge store called Talbots Toyland, located on South B Street between East 4th and East 5th Avenue. Locals go here when they are looking for a diverse variety, have a hobby they need supplies for, or if they are looking for the perfect gift for someone special. Sure, there are other big name toy stores in the nearby vicinity but none of those can tell you what a tom-boyish 8-year-old girl or an adventurous set of 5-year-old twin boys will like. None of those will stand by the products they choose to carry.

To celebrate local businesses like this, Saturday, November 10th, will be the 3rd annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day. Why should this be of interest to you?

- Through Neighborhood Toy Store Day, customers see that specialty toy retailers are more than just stores, they are a central part of a vital community.
- Local stores have knowledgeable staff, offer special services like gift-wrapping, help preserve a vital downtown, and reinvest their profits in your community.
- Participating toy stores will host in-store events and activities for the entire family!

So hurry and find out which stores near you will be participating in [Neighborhood Toy Store Day](http://www.yourneighborhoodtoystore.org/?ref=cookiesandclogs.com) this year. Maybe you’ll be able to pick up a couple of fun items like this LoopDeDoo twisted accessory maker (my daughter loves this!) or Tenzi dice game (haven’t had a chance to play this yet).

I wrote this post as part of a promotion for ASTRA, in partnership with Child’s Play Communications. I received the above-mentioned products, at no cost, for participating in the program. All opinions here are 100% my own.
