Guess what?! Disney’s Christopher Robin is now out on Digital and Blu-ray! I didn’t get a chance to see the movie when it was playing in theaters. So, I’m excited the in-home release is available to own as of TODAY!

Christopher Robin Movie Review

Christoper Robin stars Ewan McGregor and follows the story of an adult man who receives a surprise visit from his old pal, Winnie the Pooh. It’s been many years since Christopher enjoyed his carefree, playful childhood days. Real life put him face-to-face with having to go to boarding school, losing a loved one, getting married, going to war, and working to provide for his family. As stress continues to pile up from varying directions, the last thing Christopher Robin had in mind was a trip to Hundred Acre Woods or carrying around a stuffed bear all around London.

Official Synopsis:
In the heartwarming live action adventure Disney’s “Christopher Robin,” the young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside.

The first part of the movie pretty much focused on how Christopher Robin was faced with reality and had to grow up fast. It was kind of sad to see how much the animals, especially Winnie the Pooh, missed their friend. But, when Pooh steps into the real world the film really takes off. It’s so funny to see how Christoper/McGregor reacts to seeing Pooh and their interactions while traveling through the city. It doesn’t help that Pooh is very inquisitive and kind of marches to the beat of his own drum.

Things get even better when Christopher meets up with the rest of the crew in the Hundred Acre Woods. Of course, they don’t recognize him as easily as Pooh did and some reassuring is in order. Eeyore (oddly) lights up every scene he’s in and the cynical, depressing lines just work so well. I have no idea why everything about that character makes me smile so much but it does!

I did have to get used to the style of the animal at first. They didn’t look like the old-style, vintage Disney plushies or the new ones more closely resembling the animated version. But, when I realized that the filmmakers wanted to make them like actual toys of that time period, the designs made more sense to me and I came to like them.

Christopher Robin is a “what if” story about growing up but later reconnecting with your childlike self. It’s a heartwarming film which reminds us how important it is to reassess our priorities and not miss out on life due to responsibilities which come with adulthood. The themes are a bit heavier than your typical Winnie the Pooh and friends animated feature. But, it’s a nice watch for parents, aunts/uncles, and grandparents to see with their favorite kids. Then, families can enjoy these lovable characters together and can remind each other that it’s the little things in life that count the most.

Winnie the Pooh & Some Bloggers Too!

To celebrate the Christopher Robin Blu-ray release, a group of bloggers, including me, was invited to join in some special activities. These included flower arranging, eating lunch in “the woods,” interviewing the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Jim Cummings, and taking photos with the actual stuffed characters and props from the film. It was so much fun! (Tap arrows to scroll through slideshow.)
