Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax [DVD/Blu-Ray]

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax DVD Blu-RayAfter seeing fuzzy yellow mustaches for the past few months, I finally got a chance to see Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The DVD, Blu-ray, and 3D combo packs were just released and this is one film you WILL want in your family movie collection!

Based on the book, “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss, the film of the same name is a fun ride of music, animation, and laughter. Why didn’t anyone tell me this movie was full of song, dance, and high-pitched singing fish?! Oh, my goodness – this is such a great movie!

In the town of Thneedville, everything is made of plastic and clean air is purchased. A young boy, named Ted, is out to impress the girl of his dreams by finding what she wants more than anything – to see a real tree. With his grandmother’s tips and support, Ted sets off to find the Once-ler who is the only on that know what happens to the trees. The Once-ler tells of his encounter with the The Lorax, the creature that acts as the guardian of the forest and ‘speaks for the trees’ and how the once beautiful landscape became no more.

My whole family enjoyed the clever humor, the unexpected twists, as well as the well-defined characters with rich personalities. I was shocked as to how many times my husband was cracking up! The graphics were beautiful and so many vivid colors were used. My daughter had a HUGE grin on her face throughout the film and LOVED the fact that the Lorax was holding up his rear end as he was ascending and descending from the sky. This movie has something for everyone and will keep you entertained from start to finish.

As most of works from Dr. Seuss, there are many ‘messages’ mixed into the story, especially those of protecting nature. Still, it works well with the storyline and is similar to what was seen in the previous Dr. Seuss adaptation of Horton Hears A Who.

Both the Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D Combo packs include a DVD version, Digital Copy, and UltraViolet. There are also three new adorable mini-movies included which focus on the fuzzy animals of the forest. They’ll definitely put a smile on your face! The three mini-movies are:

  • Wagon-Ho
  • Forces of Nature
  • Serenade

This is my top pick of computer animated movies this year so far. Have you seen it yet? If not, you know what to pick up for your next family movie night!

He was at the entrance of the Expo all the days! Yes, the mini-movies are hilarious – especially the one featuring the bears’ serenades!
