Kids Art Projects / Ideas & All-in-One Kit…

My daughter can never have too many artsy projects. She’s so creative, unlike her mom (aka me). As she gets older, though, I find that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find age-appropriate and skill-appropriate kids art projects. I loved the idea behind Eye Can Art because it teaches actual art techniques, includes all the needed supplies, and does not limit creativity. Hey, the kits even say they’re good for ages up to 95 or 96 🙂

The techniques covered are much more than cut and paste. An instruction booklet is included so even the most novice parent can help coach their child through the basics. There is also a type of tutorial project to make sure they can get the hang of it first and see the point in using that particular technique. The kit options are:

  • Sketch-Foam Print Making Kit
  • Fabric Sun Photo Kit
  • Collage Print Making Kit
  • Sumi-e Painting Kit
  • Wax Drawing Kit
  • Book in a Box Kit
  • Amate Cut Paper Kit
  • Pastel Stencil Kit

Our first choice was the Sketch-Foam Making Kit but they were out of stock. So, we got our second pick which was the Pastel Stencil Kit. I’m so glad everything was included. The last time I shopped for art supplies I got the cheapest pastels I could and they were AWFUL! The pastels included here worked perfectly – went on smoothly and washed of easily. Yay and yay. Plus, there’s enough paper and pastels to make several different pieces. With this in mind $24-30 for an all-inclusive kids art project is a pretty fair price, especially if you have more than one child who will be using it.

My daughter had a blast with this. At first she wasn’t sure what to make but, after doing the test project, the juices were flowing and she was anxious to get started on her own creations. The pieces she made were all her. The only thing I did was help cut the stencil out with an X-acto knife (not included) since she needed both portions of the shapes. I personally though her pictures of “Super Speckles” looked great but I could be biased. I was tempted to do some pastel stenciling myself but I tried get some other things done while my daughter was busy with her project.

So here’s a thumbs-up from this mom. Whether you’re looking to add to your homeschool curriculum or just want a fun project to do together, I highly recommend Eye Can Art for future kids art projects. I really tried to find something to warn you about but there was nothing. Your kids (or even you) will love these!

We have one of their kits here, trying to get the DD to do it before we have to pack up to move! Great products they have, we are huge craft fans and this makes it easier!
