Hey, SF Bay! Join Nutella for Breakfast from 12/11 to 12/15! #NutellaSanFran #sfbay

I heard about Nutella 12 or 13 years ago, back on my initial visit to the Netherlands. That was the first time I saw people putting this creamy hazelnut spread on their bread for breakfast. In fact, it was in all the stores and seemed to be a regular staple in most Dutch homes. Nutella was a common household name over there.

Fast-forward a few years and the same phenomenon has occurred here. Nutella can be found on most grocery store shelves and our local warehouse store actually carries an extra large 2-pack in its normal inventory! Breakfast is always more appealing to my daughter (and husband) when Nutella is sitting on the table just waiting to be smothered on some toast, bagel, or croissant!

What is Nutella?

Nutella hazelnut spread is a quick, easy and tasty way to start the day. Spread Nutella® on whole-wheat toast with a glass of milk and some fruit, or serve with banana and apple slices for the child who likes to dip. Turn a balanced breakfast into a tasty one.

Nutella is a tasty hazelnut spread that gets its unique taste from a combination of simple ingredients like hazelnuts, skim milk and a hint of cocoa. Did you know:

  1. Nutella contains no artificial colors or preservatives.
  2. It does not contain peanuts or peanut ingredients, nor does the product come in contact with peanuts during manufacturing.
  3. Nutella is Kosher certified
  4. It is gluten-free

For those that love Nutella or for those that have not yet tried it (most fall into either of these two categories), the Nutella Breakfast Tour  has made its way across the country and will be bringing sweet samples to the San Francisco Bay Area next month (12/11-12/15)! Yes, enjoy free samples of Nutella on bread and waffles, giveaways (while supplies last), and take pictures with a giant inflatable Nutella jar (I know you want to…)!

To get you in the mood for the visit of the Nutella-dispensing breakfast food truck in a couple of weeks, try this yummy recipe:

Savory Nutella Fruit Crepes

  1. Buy or make a few plain crepes (recipe here).
  2. Spread a layer of Nutella on half of the crepe.
  3. Place several banana and strawberry slices.
  4. Fold the other half over, then fold the crepe in half again.
  5. Sprinkle powdered sugar on.
  6. Top with whipped cream.
  7. Enjoy!

I would totally go with you if I was out there. I love Nutella since I discovered it in France in high school!

Well, they do have a promotion where you can enter to have them visit your city again. Maybe it will be there soon!
