Tax time. Scrambling to find crumpled up receipts between sofa cushions, seeing if you can write off those spa days as medical needs, and wondering if that raise was worth the higher tax bracket are all part of the fun. However, after everything is finalized and completed, hopefully a nice refund is headed your way! If so, I know a fantastic way of how to stretch your tax refund dollars.
Taking Care of Business
If you have been neglecting the car that has so faithfully brought you from point A to point B and to C and D for the past year, it’s time to give it some much needed attention. Fortunately, you can head to AutoZone for all of your needs. Generally, I would let my husband go to pick up any parts we need. It’s not that I don’t know what I’m doing since I know just as much about cars as he does. However, I just don’t feel comfortable and am afraid that I will be overcharged or taken advantage of as a woman. Fortunately, AutoZone is not like that.
Loading Up Your Ride
AutoZone will not sell you parts that you don’t need. So, not only can you get expert advice but you can also feel assured that you won’t be ripped off. The store is also easy to navigate so you can find what you need quickly.
Since we just bought a new car, there are some “must have” items we needed to stock it with. First and foremost, we needed to pick out new license plate holders. Ugh, I hate having those cheap plastic holders advertising the place we got the car from. I prefer simple chrome holders but the full selection AutoZone carries is nice in case you like something more ornate.
We also needed to replace in-car basics including a new electronic tire gauge, a 12V to USB power converter, and hand sanitizer. You can never have too much hand sanitizer these days. The cargo organizer from our old car could just be moved over but we might need to get one that fits better at some point. Oh, I also need to make another run to AutoZone for a collapsible sun shade. Spring is already treating us to some nice extended daylight. 🙂
How to Stretch Your Tax Refund Dollars
Earlier I mentioned about how to stretch your tax refund dollars. AutoZone offers several services customers for free. One such service is Loan-A-Tool. You can see a huge sign advertising this in the photo above (taken at the San Mateo location). Using this service, customers can borrow from a selection of hundreds of specialty tools for DIY repair. If you just need a specific tool for one quick fix, this is a great option to buying it, using it once, than have it gather dust in your garage.
In case you need to purchase parts, AutoZone carries quality items and the prices are reasonable. The weekly ad features hot deals regularly and sometimes there are special offers such as this one for “Get $7 off $30 or more“. This coupon if valid from now until April 29, 2016.
You’ll also want to be sure to join the AutoZone Rewards program. With this you can earn a $20 rewards when you make 5 purchases of $20 or more. That’s like an ongoing 20% discount for regular shoppers! This is perfect for taking care of those regular maintenance needs such as changing lights, getting cleaning supplies, or picking up some windshield wiper fluid (we run out of it all of the time).
Though going for car supplies may not be your favorite thing to do, at least AutoZone makes it a bit easier. With competitive prices, special deals, and tons of free services, you can certainly stretch your tax refund a bit further.
Thanks to the generosity of AutoZone, one of my readers will win a $100 gift card. This can be used on a new license plate holder, decals, all-weather mats (nice for those spring storms), a mobile phone charger, etc. Enter below!
