Tutorial How to Apply Magnetic Nail Polish…

I have a new obsession – magnetic nail polish. I happened to stumble upon this new novelty as I was browsing the Sephora site looking for makeup. After watching the ‘how to’ video my interest was piqued and I decided to run out to get some that afternoon. Now, I’m not really into the nail art scene and never understood the fascination with the ‘crackle’ effect. Somehow I just love this look though which is both funky and classy at the same time.

Pictured above is a step-by-step process of using Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish in the color Trafalgar Square that I bought at Sephora (just in case you were wondering).

After applying a base coat (optional) just use the polish as you normally would. Add a thick second coat and hold included magnet (on outer, removable top) above the wet polish for 3-8 seconds. You obviously want to avoid touching the top to your nail but if you mess up you can easily paint on another coat and try again. The magnetic particles will settle as they dry so don’t worry if you see what looks like bare spots or the contrast is very strong as it ends up being softly blended silver and dark gray. Make sure to add a top coat for it to last longer and then re-apply an additional top coat every other day.

I’m hooked. When doing things I just can’t stop looking at my nails because I think they look so pretty which, I know, is totally weird. The polish is a smooth consistency, dries quickly, and comes off easily. There’s another line by an Italian brand that I just ordered which can do nice diagonal lines and has a better color selection. I just ordered a few bottles of those so I’ll let you know how those turn out too!

You can find it at Sephora – either at the store or online. 🙂 AND they just released a new color!
