Parent-approved Kid Shows

by TerriAnn

You do not need to spend money on cable to have quality children’s programming. Qubo and PBS Kids have some really wonderful shows that are educational AND enjoyable. Here are the current TV shows our daughter, who is 9, likes (and we approve):

Babar based on the books, teaches good lessons
Cyberchase encourages kids to learn and like math
Dinosaur Train
teaches information about dinosaurs
The Electric Company has music and fun with words
Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman fun even for parents
Martha Speaks based off the book and great transition to tv
Willa’s Wildlife adventures with animal friends
Zula Patrol facts and fun adventures in space

For the younger crowd, your kids will enjoy these:

Between the Lions encourages a love of reading
Clifford and Clifford: Puppy Days based on the books
Postcards From Buster a kid-travel show
Word World teaches reading and spelling

Our all-time favorite that we actually liked as much as our daughter did is Blue’s Clues with the original host Steve. You can probably rent these at the library or video store.
