Can you believe Tide has been around for 65 years?! We personally use the Tide Cold Water and that seems to work the best for us without causing allergic reaction. We tried others but this just seems to work for us. Plus, it’s easy to get it in bulk to drop the cost.
To celebrate Tide’s Anniversary. Procter & Gamble (P&G) is releasing retro-packaged Tide, Bounce, and Downy. You can find them at Target during the month of May, while supplies last. These are special-edition packages that feature the label from 1947.
I get a kick out of some of the old advertisements. The pictured housewives seemed to love getting all dressed up to do their favorite household chore of laundry. Some of the text on the label reads:
- Washday soaps? Jane tried ‘em all, And every new detergent. But, none matched Tide – and so she cried, “Please send some Tide! It’s urgent!“
- Detergents, soaps, she tried them all and wasn’t satisifed … But now his shirts are dazzling clean! Smart girl … she turned to Tide!
How things have changed! In our home my husband actually does all the laundry – he’s better and more efficient at it than I am. If I am ever forced to do it, something always goes wrong so I just stay clear of it. Come to think of it, I actually have no idea how our new washing machine works and we’ve had it for several months!

My husband retired before I did , so he started to do the laundry. Now we are both retired and he washes and dries the clothes I fold and put away.
