A few years ago, I experienced my first real ‘road trip’. Together with my husband, daughter, and parents-in-law we drove across the southwest to visit the Grand Canyon and Zion/Bryce Canyon via Las Vegas. We saw breathtaking sites, got some amazing pictures, and really enjoyed each other’s company.

That is one vacation which will stick with me for a long time. The only drawback? The trip seemed sooooo long! We had a pretty roomy SUV so comfort wasn’t a problem. It’s just that each day consisted of about 4 hours of driving and only staying in the same hotel for 1-2 nights. That had to be the roughest part.

I really enjoy just taking it easy, taking in the sights, and settling in for the night. Yet, during our 7-day trip, we were constantly on the move and either packing or unpacking. It was torture sitting in the car for hours at a time. How did my daughter do? She did better than I did – so typical.

I’ve been avoiding future road trips but I’m sure I just need to figure out how to enjoy the ride more. What would be your #1 road trip tip for me?
