Sunscreen Is Your Friend #WW

by TerriAnn

My husband put sunscreen on but accidentally forgot his neck. For two days he couldn’t wear anything that touched his neck, including most of his T-shirts, because it hurt too much. The moral of the story – don’t underestimate the power of the sun and slather on that SPF 30+!

Ohhhh. I felt physical pain looking at that picture! Poor hubby…Aloe Vera gel chilled in the fridge might relieve it a little. :/

We did the aloe vera but never though to chill it! If it happens again (hopefully not anytime soon) then we’ll try that – thanks!

My god what happened to the neck. The ears seems to be red as well…

The sun can be a dangerous foe…

OUCH! I once had a sunburn like that – on the top of my legs – it was so painful. I was so sick. 🙁 Poor guy –

Ugh, I can imagine! Once my hubs got burned on the TOP of his feet – all shoes were torture for a while!

Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell May 23, 2012 - 6:17 am

That’s what happened to me when I put up my trampoline! Poor guy; I know that hurt!

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:46 am

Oh no! You can’t forget that sunscreen – the sun is so much stronger right now! Have you already started to peel?

Kathy May 23, 2012 - 6:19 am

Ouch!!! A great reminder!

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:47 am

Can you say OUCH! He needs some aloe vera…

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:47 am

Oh yeah! He was living on that stuff for a few days!

Lisa @ Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy May 23, 2012 - 7:14 am

OUCH OUCH OUCH

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:48 am

I know 🙁 I ended up having to cut the collar off one of his old shirts just so he could wear SOMEthing.

Thryn May 23, 2012 - 9:08 am

Oh wow! That looks painful!! I reminded my husband to reapply every couple hours when he worked outside this weekend. I don’t burn like that – thank goodness!

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:50 am

I should have thought to remind him as well. We were so hectic getting ready to go to the picnic that we all totally neglected the sunscreen. I don’t burn like him but I did get a bit – the sun was SUPER strong that day.

Ouch! Sunburn is sonot fun! My daughter stayed home yesterday because she got sunburn at school on Monday from being outside for Track & Field day ALL day with no shade. Try putting some vinegar on it to help take the heat out of it a bit!

Cookies & Clogs May 24, 2012 - 11:51 am

Oh, poor thing! People forget how much damage being in the sun can cause. Never heard of using vinegar, only aloe vera aftersun. I hope your daughter’s feeling better now!

Beth May 23, 2012 - 11:19 am

Oh my goodness I know that hurt. I burn so easily that I live with sunscreen on in the summer!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:37 pm

Fortunately it got better after a few days but it was a bad one. Yep, some are more susceptible than others so better safe than sorry when it comes to sunscreen!

Shawn Ann @ Shawn Ann's World May 23, 2012 - 11:49 am

OUCH! That looks very painful!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:38 pm

Totally – poor guy 🙁

Anne - Mommy Has to Work May 23, 2012 - 12:09 pm

Oh No!!! My hubby had handprints on his back once….

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:38 pm

I saw! Poor thing. One time my mom used a sunscreen stick and got burnt on areas she missed 😛

Danielle @ Royalegacy May 23, 2012 - 1:40 pm

Ooh! Lobster man! Ha! My sister once got so sunburned, that she fainted where she worked. Luckily she was working at that time in a hospital. Help was not far away. They told her to go home and quit baking so much in the sun!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:39 pm

Oh no! Sunburns are so dangerous because it can lead to skin cancer. I’m glad your sister got immediate help but I can’t imagine fainting – she must have also gotten some kind of sunstroke.

Not So Average Mama May 23, 2012 - 2:14 pm

eeeeek! Painful!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:42 pm

I know – horrible, right?

Kasandria Reasoner May 23, 2012 - 3:52 pm

OUCH!!!
Kas

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:43 pm

Yep, it hurt worse than it looked.

Carolyn G May 23, 2012 - 5:23 pm

Owie!! My hubby does this all the time. Aloe vera!!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:44 pm

Oh no, you’ve got to watch those fair-skinned types. My hubs keeps telling me that he wasn’t made for the sun here (being from the Netherlands originally). We slathered that aloe vera on until the burn subsided!

Shell Fruscione May 24, 2012 - 1:22 am

OW. I’m seriously in pain just looking at it. Poor thing!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:44 pm

Can you believe the contrast between the burn and his normal skin color?! It was a bad one…

Lisa from Life with Lisa May 24, 2012 - 4:53 am

Ouch! That cooling blue gel always makes it feel better.

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:45 pm

Blue? We only know the green aloe vera one. What’s the blue one?

Lisa from Life with Lisa May 29, 2012 - 10:19 am

The blue one is also “medicated” with some sort of cooling stuff.

Kelly May 25, 2012 - 9:14 pm

Oh NO! My husband has really fair skin and I’ve found that putting coconut oil on his skin after he’s been in the sun too long will help reduce and sometimes prevent a sunburn. I hope he’s feeling better!

Cookies & Clogs May 28, 2012 - 10:45 pm

Oh? That’s a great tip. Maybe we can get some so it’s on hand the next time it happens!
