TravelWise Packing Cube System 5 Piece Weekender PLUS Set

Usually, when going on a trip, packing is not the hardest part. Finding everything you stuffed in there during and after the stay is. Hours of careful planning and meticulous arrangement seem to instantly go down the drain the minute that one pajama top is yanked from the bag. It doesn’t stop there. With every morning and evening of getting reading, another layer of mess is added to the heap once identified as your luggage. If you can relate to any of this in even the slightest bit, you NEED this packing cube system from TravelWise.

TravelWise Packing Cube System 5 Piece Weekender PLUS Set

The concept behind packing cubes is not new. My sister had introduced them to us a while back as they saved her many times during her recent travels. However, these were not cheap and you needed at least three pieces to do any good. Just this year TravelWise, makers of the EatSmart Precision Voyager Luggage Scale that we still use, released an addition to their packing cube system. The brand new 5 Piece Weekender PLUS Set is just what the family therapist (to keep you from going crazy) ordered and it only costs $29.95 from Amazon with FREE shipping! Score!

The TravelWise Packing Cube System 5 Piece Weekender PLUS Set comes in purple, red, or teal and includes:

  • (1) Small Size – 11.5″ x 6.75″ x 3.75″
  • (2) Medium Size – 13.75″ x 9.75″ x 3.75″
  • (2) Large Size – 17.5″ x 12.75″ x 4″

Packing Cubes – Size Does Matter

These five pieces can hold a TON of stuff! The small size is perfect for underwear, panties, bras, slips, socks, belts, and other items you don’t want the TSA officers at the airport to toss around during a random luggage check. The medium size is fits shirts, sweaters, light jackets, pajamas, hair tools, electronic chargers, and toys with tiny pieces that tend to get lost in places they shouldn’t. As for the large size, pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, and other bulky or prone-to-wrinkle items can go in here. With a height of about 4 inches, you can fit so much into these cubes that I had to practically empty out my wardrobe to fill them for the below photos!

With everything organized neatly in its own cube, it also becomes simpler to ‘unpack’ at your destination. Instead of putting all your items into the hotel drawers that may be housing who knows what else in them, you can just pop your cubes in to keep things clean and easily accessible. It also make re-packing a lot less of a chore. The handle on each cube adds to that ease of moving things back to your bag. BAM! Packing to head home is done in a breeze.

Pros & Cons

This set by TravelWise has some great features. One such feature is the mesh area on top, good for both ventilation and identification. Having a mesh portion is pretty common on other packing cubes but what differs it the ratio of mesh to fabric. Having too much of the upper area as mesh can make the cube feel less durable and leaves little to the imagination of what’s in there. TravelWise packing cubes offer just enough to keep your clothes from getting musty but tempers that with heavy reinforced edges throughout.

The materials used seem durable and the stitching looks great. There’s also extra fabric near the two zippers to prevent any items from getting caught. Did I mention that these can be washed in cold water (by hand) and line dried? Yeah, no use having nice packing cubes if they get rank really fast!

It was tough to find weaknesses in TravelWise’s set as it’s a really good buy and one of the best brands to choose from. The only complaints, well not really complaints but issues, I had was that there weren’t more colors/prints to choose from and that, due to their popularity, they sell out REALLY fast on Amazon. Good thing you can sign up to be notified when they’re back in stock! The 3 Piece Weekender Set for $22.95 tends to be more readily available but the extra two pieces for only $7 more is a much better deal in my opinion.

Whether you plan on staying out overnight or for a few weeks, the TravelWise Packing Cube System 5 Piece Weekender PLUS Set has got your packing needs covered, literally. With all the stress of traveling, especially with family, keeping your suitcase, backpack, and or bag in order is one less think you’ll need to worry about. You’ll never look at packing the same way and you’ll never want to travel without your TravelWise set.

It Just Keeps Getting Better –  Win One Here!

I don’t travel as much anymore but when I do I have my stuff and my kid’s all in one case. These would help organize much better. I have had the embarrassing TSA underwear fiasco happen before and it’s not fun.

We travel on an annual canoe trip in which we paddle to a different destination every year. This year is Bella Bella Canada! This would definitely come in handy because I have to pack really light this year and be very organized in order to make it work. If your curious about the trip, google tribaljourneys.com. It explains it better.
