This past week, my family and I were in southern California to review local attractions and lodging. Instead of using our cell minutes or draining the batteries, we brought the [Home Phone Connect](http://www.verizonwireless.com/home-phone-connect.shtml?ref=cookiesandclogs.com) with us and set up our mobile office.

We got full reception and had the convenience of calling/receiving calls while away from home. It was so nice being able to just pick up the phone and talk away, without worrying about any extra costs. While there, a friend of mine received some great news and wanted to share it with me. We were able to talk at length and I didn’t get a neck cramp dealing with my cell phone or deal with spotty connectivity asking, “Can you hear me now?” every few minutes or so.

You’ve already read my [FAQ](http://cookiesandclogs.local/?p=21056&ref=cookiesandclogs.com) on the service but I haven’t told you what I think of it yet. Since the device’s external antenna boosts any signal in range, even we get two out of three bars of reception (our apartment building itself is basically a dead zone). Our phone calls have been mostly clear with no drops. I also really like the fact that Home Phone Connect has a battery backup and GPS for emergency situations, not like the VOIP systems we’ve relied on in the past.

Verdict: I would recommend this service if you want the benefits of a landline for only $20 per month.

Now it’s your turn. As an Ambassador for Verizon Wireless Home Phone Connect, I have the privilege of hosting a special giveaway. One of my readers will win a Home Phone Connect device ($129.99 value). You will also get a full month of service, including unlimited local and long distance calls, to try it before committing to a contract. Enter below!

I was provided a device, cordless phone, complimentary service for three months, and compensation by Verizon Wireless to participate in this program. This, however, will not affect me in providing my 100% honest opinion in this or subsequent posts I write regarding the sponsoring company.
