Walgreens Balance Rewards Loyalty Card #BalanceRewards #Cbias

by TerriAnn

My purse is full of store loyalty cards. I love the savings but not the regular or mini-sized cards I have to dig for every time I’m at the register. Walgreens has launched a new loyalty program known as Balance Rewards. Not only does Balance Rewards give you access to savings on tons of items, but you can also accrue points on purchases, prescriptions, and more. Those points will will turn into rewards of $5, $10, $20, $35, and $50 off of future shopping trips. This new program makes it easier, not harder, to save on my family’s purchases. Find out why below.

You can join Balance Rewards for free either in-store, online, or via the mobile app. The mobile app (for Apple, Android, and Blackberry) is the reason I say this particular program is easier.

After downloading the iPhone app, I went to sign up for Balance Rewards. At this point I could either log into an existing Walgreens.com account or create a new one. I had to do the latter but the registration was quick and easy. By habit ,I chose to turn off the location services but later turned them back on since it’s needed to use other features of the app (either that or type in your zip code every few screens).

My digital rewards card was ready and it was time to do some shopping! If you’re running iOS6 you can add this to your Passbook for easy access. All you need to do is show your phone to the cashier, they scan it, and you’re ready to go.

You can also shop online through the app. It was extremely difficult to ‘browse’ on the app so I decided to search for specific items instead. Thanks to the awesome sale currently running, I was able to pick up my mascara for buy one, get one 50% off and my lipliner for buy one, get one free. I also added a couple cans of my husband’s shaving gel to the cart while I was at it. Checking out only required shipping and payment information. My order was completed and I got an email receipt almost immediately.

With Balance Rewards, I saved $14.69 – a whopping 35% savings! Plus, the free shipping over $25 offer allowed me to shop guilt-free from the comfort of my own home.

See how this all played out, step-by-step, in my Google + album.

The app is pretty extensive with features including mobile coupons, weekly ads, and a shopping list you create. You can even share your list via email if you need someone else to pickup some items while they’re out and about.

My favorite feature has to be the ability to refill a prescription by just scanning the code. We recently got some medicine for Speckles so I was able to test this feature right away. The app reads the code and automatically generates a refill order. Cool, right?

Walgreens Balance Rewards is a great way to save over and over again. Get instant discounts and rack up points for even more rewards. Plus, the mobile app allows you to take advantage of all the benefits of this as well as so much more. I haven’t even begun to find out all it’s capable of and how useful it will be for me. It’s all free so hurry and try both Balance Rewards and the app for yourself!

I’m glad they’ve launched this program. We used to shop at Walgreens all of the time, but since we moved we haven’t for quite awhile. We have to go into town to shop anyway, so I’m not sure why that is… but w/the new program I will def. be stopping in to check it out. I’ve always been happy every time I’ve shopped there in the past, and the rewards program sounds like a good one!

I really like it too. The prices seemed to be getting higher to me so I’m glad that there’s a way to save there again. Also, our local Walgreens is kind of, well, ghetto so I like that it’s possible to order online AND get free shipping.

You scored some great deals! I love the prescription refill scanner and the pill reminder settings too. What a multi-functional app. I was shocked when I saw it.

Same here. I was so focused on the Balance Rewards that I didn’t notice all the app could do until later. I’m anxious to play with it more and use it again 🙂

I know. It strangely makes me want to take more meds just to scan them in 😛

I have never been to a Walgreens before, this sounds like a really neat program though. I will have to see where the closest one is.

Never been to a Walgreens? That’s possible?! Well, at least they deliver free anywhere as long as it’s $25 🙂
