There used to be a commercial about California cows and when they felt the ground shake, they\u00a0nonchalantly\u00a0said, &#8220;Fooooootttt massssaaaaggee!&#8221; Then, back in the day, I also remember people going around wearing shirts that read &#8220;I survived the quake of &#8217;89&#8221;. Such things are not funny though.<\/p>\n<p>Over twenty years later, many things have changed. Natural disasters are happening all over, even in places previous unaffected. In fact, my husband and I were just talking about putting together a supply kit just in case. It&#8217;s probably easier to pick up a pre-assembled one but, cost-wise, it makes more sense for us to\u00a0<a title=\"buy emergency food\" href=\"http:\/\/buyemergencyfoods.com\/survival-gear\/freeze-dried-meats\" target=\"_blank\">buy emergency food<\/a>\u00a0and other supplies separately then stick them all in a backpack (our local warehouse store had them in a backpack &#8211; great idea).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16028\" title=\"emergency_kit\" alt=\"Disaster preparedness emergency kit\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cookiesandclogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/emergency_kit.jpg\" width=\"322\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aside from first-aid supplies, blankets, flashlights, and radios, the most important item we&#8217;ll need to pick up is some\u00a0<a title=\"survival food\" href=\"http:\/\/buyemergencyfoods.com\/survival-gear\/survival-food\" target=\"_blank\">survival food<\/a>\u00a0to last us a few days and some kind of durable <a href=\"http:\/\/buyemergencyfoods.com\/survival-gear\/long-term-food-storage\" target=\"_blank\">food storage<\/a>. Also, one commercially sold kit I saw included some coloring books and activities for children. As my daughter is older we probably won&#8217;t need those but, who knows, maybe I&#8217;ll need them to retain sanity depending on the situation we might find ourselves in.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a disaster emergency prepared?
