Do you have any plans to get away this month? When going into &#8216;vacation&#8217; mode, people tend to get a little to relaxed and can be a prime target for those with unwary intentions. Those homes we leave unoccupied may be at risk as well &#8211; remember the movie\u00a0<em>Home Alone<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>Ever since I started using LifeLock, I&#8217;ve been more mindful of taking proactive steps in protecting my identity and everything associated with it.\u00a0I thought these tips on travel safety\u00a0from the LifeLock\u00a0for\u00a0Life\u00a0sweepstakes were excellent and ones my family and I make sure to follow on every trip:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before traveling one should inform a family member of where they are going but not post on Facebook (or similar online channel) about their travel plans.<\/li>\n<li>Travel cautiously by keeping your purse or wallet securely on the front of your body.<\/li>\n<li>When traveling, paying by credit card provides consumers with the least amount of financial liability compared to debit cards or cashiers checks.<\/li>\n<li>If you see someone in the road,\u00a0the safest course of action is to proceed to the nearest police station to report the incident.<\/li>\n<li>SUVs and pickups are common auto-burglary topics because they do not have trunks to hide valuables.<\/li>\n<li>Using a common laptop bag while traveling through airports can make you the target of theft. To make your laptop less of a target, skip a typical laptop bag and instead try carrying your laptop in a padded briefcase, suitcase, or backpack.<\/li>\n<li>Before traveling, you should make two copies of your passport and credit\/ATM cards: one to leave at home with a friend or family member, and the other to bring with you on your trip.
