New IHOP Menu Items – Griddle Melts…

Thinking about it, I remember when IHOP was actually called International House of Pancakes and we just said iHop for short. While breakfast entrees are still a staple of the large restaurant brand, lunch and dinner have earned spots on the extensive menu as well. There’s a new option on the menu that would be perfect for any time of the day – Griddle Melts!

I ordered the Spinach, Roasted Red Pepper, & Cheese Melt but without the red peppers (personal preference). There’s an option to get a whole or a half sandwich so I opted for the half with a cup of fruit.

My Griddle Melt was huge and pretty much looked just the like picture – how often does that happen? The sourdough was lightly toasted yet soft and the cheese was everywhere. Surprisingly, it was not overwhelming and the sandwich had an overall fresh taste. That must have been because these sandwiches were made-to-order, not sitting under a warmer for hours in the back like other breakfast sandwiches.

My husband and daughter thought it was good too but didn’t like it as much as I did. So, they left the rest for me to finish off. Whew, was that filling! I should have known better than to order a whole other entree. Guess I have lunch for another day. Actually we all had a ton of leftovers – I think we were a bit taken aback by the portion sizes.

Anyway, I can totally imagine coming again and just a half sandwich + side being my full meal. Simple yet satisfying. Not bad for only $4.99 and a full sandwich is $7.99.
