Easy and Healthy Kids Snacks for School or Home or On-the-Go…

“I’m hungry!” How often do you hear that statement? It’s fine when you’re busy but at some point you start dragging and pretty much just poop out. Kids especially have the need to keep snacks with them at all times. After a while, though, they get tired of the same old things. But, it’s not easy finding new tasty but healthy alternatives. I received a box of SolBites from a Colorado-based snack food company that focuses on healthy kids snacks. So, I put them to the test.

A couple of weeks ago we had a Wii party for the kids. They had pizza and chips but I also put out the SolBites to see what happened. At first, it caught the eye of a few mom friends. One mentioned that her mom only uses almond butter so she was curious. Others wanted something to nibble on but didn’t feel like the chips or cupcakes. Later, some of the kids caught on too.

Those that had the Chocolate Almond Butter with Strawberry LOVED it. They said it tasted great. The included wooden spoon made it virtually mess-free too. Their only complaint was that the container for the crackers needed to be a little bigger. Apparently, they found it a pain to get the crackers out. Aside from that, this was the clear winner of the snack challenge.

The regular Almond Butter with Honey was deemed as ‘tasteless’ by one parent and I found another package opened but barely eaten. Guess that didn’t go over too well. As for the Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam, no one really wanted to eat it. I suppose that’s because it sounded so common and they prefer it on bread anyway. I tried it and, yep, it taked just like PB & J. The only issue I had was that the jam was so thin it was hard to scoop our with a flat ‘spoon’. It was tasty though.
