Friday morning we had breakfast, got some Hanes goodies, then headed to the conference room. The excitement was so overwhelming and the decor did slightly take my breath away.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cookiesandclogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dsmmoms-day2-03.jpg\" alt=\"Disney Social Media Moms Celebration 2014 DSMMC #DSMMoms\" width=\"650\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cookiesandclogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dsmmoms-day2-03.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.cookiesandclogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dsmmoms-day2-03-292x194.jpg 292w, https:\/\/www.cookiesandclogs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dsmmoms-day2-03-585x389.jpg 585w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We heard from various speakers, each offering a different take-away:<\/p>\n<p>Tom Staggs \u2013 Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explained Disney&#8217;s guiding vision: Be the most trusted provider of shared family leisure experiences of the world, making them last a lifetime.<\/li>\n<li>The parks aim to have safe and healthy dining options for all their guests, having a chef come out to take and make custom orders. He too has a son with food allergies.<\/li>\n<li>Cruise lines will have new ships and itineraries, including\u00a0routes to\u00a0Baltic\/Iceland areas and Alaska<\/li>\n<li>New pirate-themed land in Shanghai will be the first &#8216;land&#8217; based on attraction based on a movie based on an attraction<\/li>\n<li>Hong Kong expansion will include\u00a0a\u00a0Marvel attraction\/area (I wish I could visit it!)<\/li>\n<li>WDW expansion, which doubles the size of Fantastyland, is complete with the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which has a paten back and forth\u00a0swinging motion<\/li>\n<li>Avatar\u00a0will be coming to\u00a0Animal Kingdom\u00a0with floating\u00a0mountains, a bioluminescent world, and maybe the chance to fly on a banshee<\/li>\n<li>New Eye Magic Plus\u00a0system will allow you to pre-book FastPasses and double the number of your\u00a0experiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jay Ward \u2013 Creative Director at Pixar<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As a Legacy Guardian, Jay makes sure Pixar designs stay true to character\u00a0(i.e. notice that gas pumps in Cars don&#8217;t have\u00a0hand-held handles)<\/li>\n<li>Story is King: tell a compelling story, something that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat wondering, what\u2019s going to happen next<\/li>\n<li>Populate the story with memorable characters, characters that are relatable<\/li>\n<li>Think about: &#8220;Why are we making it? Does it further this Pixar story? Does it grow to enrich the story?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Pixar products look good because they put a lot of work into it. The bear had his late father&#8217;s voice recorded on it. There were also some announcements about future Disney Social Media Moms events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2015 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration will be in Walt Disney World again (Another place I&#8217;d like to visit!)<\/li>\n<li>2014 DSMMoms On-the Road event will be in\u00a0Chicago on\u00a0June 17th,\u00a0Philadelphia on June 19, and\u00a0Phoenix on June 25th<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After the session was over, we had the rest of the evening to ourselves with the option meeting back at Disney California Adventure to see The World of Color from a special viewing area.
