“She shall have music wherever she goes.” That kind of describes me now, thanks to Best Buy’s August Audio Fest and the Samsung SHAPE Wireless Audio System. If you’ve been eyeing a good sound system for your home or your kids going away for school, now is a good time to start shopping. No Best Buy coupon is needed as deals on audio are good throughout the month of August. I’ll share more about later but, for now, here’s one system you might want to add to your shopping list.

Samsung SHAPE Wireless Audio System

I’m home A LOT. Whether I’m busy with my daughter’s homeschooling or blogging up a storm, much of my time is spent in our apartment. To keep the atmosphere from being overwhelmingly dreary and to keep us going, having some tunes to move to helps immensely. However, the minute we move to the kitchen, bathroom, laundry area, or back bedroom, we’re out of earshot of our favorite songs. Not so with the Samsung SHAPE Wireless Audio System we have now.

The Samsung SHAPE Wireless Audio System allows you to wirelessly connect several speakers to broadcast your music in different rooms (multi-room). All that’s needed is a Samsung Speaker Hub and two or more speakers. The hub is super tiny and plugs straight into your internet modem.

The step-by-step directions included with the hub are easy to follow and it’s basically plug and play. Next, tap the NFC patch in the manual to download the Samsung SHAPE Audio app (must use an NFC-enabled device) or grab it from the Google Play or iTunes store. The app lets you control the music sent through the hub using your smartphone or tablet.

Setup was quick and easy. Pairing with the speakers was also simple. Using the app, I was able to name each of the speakers. This makes it a whole lot easier when choosing to use one speaker, grouping them together to play at the same time, or playing different music on each speaker. The only thing that took a long time and was kind of cumbersome was waiting for the devices to download software updates. I also noticed that, when pausing the music, there was a delay between each speaker stopped/began.

Samsung M5 Speakers

The Samsung M5 speakers are great though. When they first arrived, Frans asked, “Are they heavy?” According to him, high quality speakers have to be heavy (maybe because of the components needed). Sound is excellent – clear and unmuffled but with decent bass.

You can position the speakers horizontally or vertically (using the attached stand). They look sleek and I like the shape. Controls are touch sensitive so you only need to swipe the metal ring to adjust the volume or tap the audio source or mute icons.

The M5 speakers come in white or black. We ended up receiving the white speakers which, unfortunately, stick out like sore thumbs on our dark furniture. Both speakers came with a hairline crack near the auxiliary input, likely from the plug being screwed in too tightly. It’s a bummer but at least it’s in the back of the speaker so no one but us will know it’s there.

You can stream music through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from your device , using radio signals, or by means of services like Amazon Cloud Player, Pandora, and Spotify Premium. Using the speakers without the hub is also possible. See how easy it is to do this:
