For some, the bigger the car the better. Those shoppers would love the 2014 Lexus LX570. This massive vehicle sits high like a truck, seats eight, and has a crazy amount of driving and pulling power. All of this is encapsulated in a luxurious family SUV that will impress anyone that rides in it.

"2014One-week vehicle loan was provided for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

2014 Lexus LX 570 Inner Bling

Lexus is known for its quality cars and it’s luxury touches both inside and out. The LX570 is no exception. With a commanding exterior and envy-envoking features lining the interior, the driver and any passengers are guaranteed to ride in style.

The park assist on this provided a completely different parking experience. With a wide-view front camera and one under the side mirror, you have a clear shot of exactly how far you were from object in front or to the side of you. Anyone wanting to park the perfect distance from the curb every time and NEVER scrape the parking space island will rejoice with these!

The entertainment system on the LX570 was easy to control from the front or back seats and the video/audio was clear. The wireless headphones were picking up a lot of static so we opted to listen to the audio of “Charlie & Lola” as we drove.

As if the roomy ride wasn’t nice enough, a built-in cooler is hidden in the middle console for fully chilled beverages and snacks on the road. It’s big enough for a good six pack of cans.

This was the first vehicle in which I experienced a four-zone climate control. Not only do the driver and passenger have their own controls to adjust the temperature to their liking, but the second row can also take advantage of dual settings so passengers on each side are happy.

Unlike the claustrophobic feeling I experienced in the 4Runner‘s back row, the Lexus LX570 was much more bearable. There was plenty of headroom and hip space. Leg room was “eh” but the cushions were comfortable. Again, this is not meant as a permanent third row but would suffice for short trips (i.e. less than an hour or two).

Getting in and out was very easy as the seat simply fold all the way up for a spacious walkway. One friend did point out how dirty this light carpeted area would get with kids jumping in and out all the time. Spoken like a true mom. If you plan on using this third row, get some kind of rubber mats or dark carpet.

2014 Lexus LX 570 Price Vs Features

With access to all the latest technology and a $89,000 price tag, I was expecting this vehicle to do everything but fly. It didn’t do either actually. There was no seat position memory on the passenger side, no adaptive cruise control, no lane departure warning, and *I think* blind spot monitoring was also absent. Why? If you’re going to offer a top of a line sound system and swivel HID headlights, why would you not add an extra set of seat memory buttons?

The LX570 falls a bit short on the ride. With super loose suspension (even in sport mode), one can get a bit woozy on long rides. Frans used the LX570 to commute to work two days and he felt almost “sea sick” with the bouncing motion on the highway. I could also feel the SUV being a bit top-heavy on turns. Turning radius was not too good and handling was just okay.

If anyone feels that getting in and out of the towering SUV is a bit challenging, though, you can set the body to automatically lower when the engine is turned off. That is definitely a nice feature for those that don’t have model-length legs.

Doors also open wide for easy access. The back opens in two parts. This is very handy for accessing things in the cargo area without having everything else back there fall out. When you do open the bottom section, it’s sturdy like a truck gate, perfect for tailgate parties.

The buttons in the rear were a bit confusing at first. Then I realized what they do. The seats don’t only fold down but they fold up and lock in a vertical position on the sides. Huh? Yeah, I thought you might need a visual:
