The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have crazy good battery life and, with light usage, can last about two days. During events and trips, my smartphone usage is anything but light. My phone has to become my office on the go for taking photos and videos, constantly posting updates on social media, texting friends and family, making notes, following driving directions with real-time traffic, etc. Keeping an extra battery pack on me at all times is a must as a dead phone is just not an option in most cases.

But, have you ever remembered to bring your charger but forgot the cord? Or, did you bring the cord but discover too late that it’s the wrong one? Both have happened to me many times and it’s a pain. Even if you get the cord situation right, it’s so awkward trying to use your device while it’s connected to the battery pack. Finally I don’t have to deal with that any more!

PowerSkin Pop’n 2 External Battery

PowerSkin makes the Pop’n 2 external battery charger and sent over a couple to review. This is made specifically for the iPhone 6 and even includes a clear case for your phone. If you have an iPhone 6 Plus like I do, the charger is the same but a larger case will also be included with your package. Instead of a cord, a flexible and unobtrusive piece connect your phone to the charger. Just press the button on the back to start transferring power.

When you connect your iPhone, the suction cups keep the charger in place (if your cover has a smooth surface) and it doesn’t get in the way of using the phone as you normally would. Don’t worry, it’s pretty easy to detach the charger as well since the suction isn’t THAT strong. Sometimes dust, lint, and other particles can collect on the suction cups so it’s a good idea to wipe them down with a wet cloth once in a while to restore so it “sucks” better 😛 The phone charges quickly and keeps my phone full for most of the day even when using it heavily.

So far, this charger has been great to keep on hand and use. It’s convenient, light, and fits into any purse pocket. Even Frans tucks his Pop’n 2 (for his iPhone 6) into his work bag in case he needs to power up. The LED indicator lets you know when it’s time to recharge. Just use the included plug to connect to the micro USB port on the long side (the one on the short side/bottom is for power out) to your wall charger. It doesn’t take long to refill the charger at all. The Pop’n 2 comes in black, white, blue, and pink.

PowerSkin Spare Case

If you haven’t yet upgraded to the iPhone 6, other chargers are available. We were sent a PowerSkin Spare battery case for our daughter’s iPhone 5S. The design mimics that of the iPhone so it looks very classy. The streamlined design was a welcome sight as other battery cases are massively fat, practically doubling the phone’s thickness. There was one major setback in us trying out this case – we couldn’t get the one currently on her phone off. Whoops, that’s not good. That’s what we get for getting a cute but inexpensive phone case…

By now, you can probably tell that I’ve found a new go-to device charger company. Though the battery chargers featured in this post were for iOS devices, Android users will be happy to know there are products to power their devices with a mini USB connector.

In addition to the fantastic products they carry, PowerSkin also offers awesome deals. Take advantage of these before they are gone!
