I cannot believe it. My little girl has graduated 8th grade is now officially a high school student. It’s funny. We still have several years left with her at home but her graduating from elementary/middle school feels like a major milestone in her growing up. She’s going to be an adult and we’ll be empty-nesters before we know it. *Sniff*

Many others are celebrating their high school and even college graduates this year. Two of my nephews are included in that. What can I say? What type of advice or words of wisdom can I impart now that a while new chapter in their life is beginning? When I was asked about this, I kind of froze up and my mind went blank. Then, after some quite time mulling it over, I came up with quite a bit to say.

This is an important time of your life. You’ll be changing a lot and finding out more about who you are and who you want to be. So surround yourself with positive influences and with those who encourage you to make decisions that will make you happy, not just now or in the immediate years ahead, but much further on into the future.

Make this a time of precious memories and experiences and not one of regrets. Also, use your youth and ambition to further the happiness of others as it will return to you many times later on. – TerriAnn van Gosliga

Oh my. It makes me teary-eyed just thinking about how it will be to say this to my daughter in a few years. Kids really do grow up too fast and by the time you enjoy them again (after crazy teenage stage stuff) it’s time for them to go off and live life on their own.

What words of wisdom would you share with the Class of 2015?
