EFUN’s new 10.1” Nextbook 2-in-1 Windows tablet is quite an amazing machine. The Nextbook 10 is extremely versatile, so it can be used for both fun and more serious things. The specs may not be the best out there but for just over $200, you’re really getting a lot for your money.

Nextbook 10 Review

Let’s start with the fun part. The resolution is full HD so all movies look crisp and clear. Firing up a web browser and making the video full screen is quick and responsive. The sound through the built-in speakers is kind of lacking, even when turning up the volume all the way you can barely hear it. It has a combined headphone/microphone jack so I’d recommend using your favorite set of headphones to listen in versus the speakers.

The Nextbook 10 also has a built-in microphone and front- and back-facing cameras, which makes it possible to do video conferencing. The camera resolutions are kind of low so don’t expect jaw-dropping gorgeous photos and video.

School and Work on the Go

Then the more serious part, which is something I’d be using it for most. I am already impressed that for such a price you’re getting the full version of Windows. Besides that, it also comes with one full year of Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Skype) which usually runs for about $70 a year. Office 365 really is made with devices such as the Nextbook 10 in mind and you’ll love using them on it.

The applications start pretty fast and you’ll be typing, “spreadsheeting,” and making PowerPoint presentations with ease in no-time. If the 32GB of onboard storage memory is not enough for your needs, you can expand it to up to 64GB with a Micro SD card. You can also store your most precious data, like important documents and photos, in the cloud with a one year 1TB (that’s 1024GB) OneDrive subscription.

"Technology

The Nextbook 10.1 feels sturdy and is a nice size to carry around. The keyboard can be easily detached and then reattached again. I like not having to deal with that pesky Bluetooth pairing all the time – just click and you’re done. The keys and track pad are okay but they start to irritate you, there’s always the option of using the tablet’s touchscreen instead. The keyboard portion feels a bit heavy, but I believe that’s to make it more sturdy and to avoid the tablet from tipping over.

So who is this Nextbook 10 for? You’ll enjoy it if you have a good desktop PC at home and want something reasonable for on the road for work and play. I can also see this as being a great back-to-school item. The EFUN Nextbook 10.1″ Quad Core Windows Tablet with keyboard can fit so many applications and the $219.99 price tag at Target makes it a decent portable device to keep on hand or to gift.
