The main highlight of the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition is the addition of the Star Wars universe. Now players are able to immerse themselves in the movies, playing their favorite characters and in familiar settings. All of the fun starts with the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack.

The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack includes everything you need to get, well, started. The included video game software is platform-specific so make sure you pick up the right version (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360). All other Disney Infinity pieces can be used across platforms. The Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set comes in the Starter Pack, as do the Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures (these also come in a separate set if you already downloaded the game and have a base). Additional Yoda and Obi-Wan character figures will work in the play set but are sold separately.

Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set Review

Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic revolves a recovered droid and secret plans. No one knows behind either of these so it’s the Jedis’ job to find out. Along the way, players are tasked with several mini missions from defeating droids to returning cat-type things. You can also travel to different planets, take out some enemies in space, and use the force to complete tasks.

Of these characters, Ahsoka and Yoda are my favorite (I think my daughter likes them best as well). Ahsoka’s double light saber allows her to do some sweet moves and her voice is very sweet. Yoda is just a crack up. He has a funny walk but is just as speedy with his attacks. The way items are cut apart with a burning ring around them looks amazing!

The graphics are beautiful and I love how detailed and rich each landscape is. Instead of a simple radar in the bottom to help orient the player, a holographic map is shown. This can be difficult to see and to make heads or tails of. After growing accustomed to it, the topographical layout does help so you don’t randomly fall of ledges and walkways. Pod races are fun but tricky. We can’t seem to get past the first one!

You do need a large television to properly play, at least larger than our dinky 32”. The split screen makes it hard to navigate since you can only see a portion of the area at a time. Also, on-screen text is super tiny. We were struggling to read Jabba the Hut’s monologue even with our faces glued to the television.

Star Wars Rebels Join the Fun

If you have any fans of the animated series in your home, they’ll be happy to know that four character figures from Star Wars Rebels™ are available. Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Zeb Orrelios and Sabine Wren are playable in all of the Star Wars play sets. They just have to be unlocked first. To do this, collect coins with each character’s face on it as you play. So far, we’ve only unlocked Zeb. All of the characters can be played immediately in the Toy Box though. Don’t forget to pick up the Star Wars Twilight of the Republic Power Disc Pack so you can build new worlds in there too.

Star Wars™Rise Against the Empire Play Set Out Now

Just this week another Star Wars Play Set was released – Rise Against the Empire. As this game takes place during the original trilogy stories, it would be impossible to play without the key characters. Luke and Leia come in the play set while Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader can be purchased separately.

I’m so excited to try out this play set and the new characters. These are the stories I grew up with, Empire Strikes Back being my mom’s favorite. The final set, The Force Awakens, will come with Finn and Rey from the upcoming movie. No date has been tacked onto that release but it will be coming for sure.

Enter below for a chance to win Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels. More giveaways will be coming soon.
