It used to be so easy to shop for my daughter. I knew what characters she liked, the toys that she\u2019d enjoy, and colors she was drawn to. She enjoyed stuffed animals<\/a>, games, small and cute things, ugly and weird things, bugs<\/a>, art supplies, etc. Now that she\u2019s a teen, buying gifts she likes is much harder.<\/p>\n

Last year, when we had an eighth grade graduation party<\/a> for her, friends would ask me what they could get for her. I honestly couldn\u2019t tell them. They inquired as to what her favorite clothing store was. She doesn\u2019t have one. They wondered what her favorite colors are. They change daily, as do the shades she gravitates to. I felt like such an aloof mom but, even when consulting with my daughter, it turns out that she doesn\u2019t know what she likes or doesn’t like either. I do not envy those teenage years.<\/p>\n
