Sit. Stay. Shake. Roll over. When dogs are trained, they learn a variety of commands and these can vary from owner to owner. But, as I learned a long time ago, there is one word that most dogs will recognize. That word is “treat.” Years ago, there was a time that I yelled “Treat!” at the dog park to get Speckles’ attention. She perked up immediately and ran over to me… as did the other dozen or so dogs in the area. As you can imagine, I am a bit more careful now when talking about treats for dogs when a lot of pups are in the area.

SPIKE Treats for Dogs — Epitome of Canine Happiness

Yes, dogs go crazy over treats. Speckles is no different. The minute she hears that word, her eyes get big and start to shine, her ears perk up, her tail wags so much that her whole rear end shakes, and she immediately runs to where we keep her treats. Of course, before we give her one, we ask her to do a trick. The problem is that Speckles becomes so extremely excited that she can’t contain it. Instead of just doing one trick, she will do them all in succession (sit, roll over, sit up, shake, dance, etc.) in hopes that she’ll get the treat as soon as possible. It’s pretty hilarious! I took this video to show you but it took a few tries (and a lot of bloopers) to finally get her to do a proper trick for her treat. 😀
