Growing up in California, I can’t deny the delicious appeal of the specialty chocolates and treats from See’s Candies. Nothing tastes quite like them and the amazing variety includes flavors every palette. Not only can my family and I not get enough of our favorite flavors but they also make the perfect gifts for any occasion. A brand new location was opened recently and, the evening before the grand opening, I was able to attend a special blogger preview along with my daughter.

I was looking forward to this event particularly because I was kind of hired to help compile and manage the guest list. It was great seeing old blogging buddies and meeting new ones. Everyone was allowed one guest and we had a great turnout of some 50 people.

A New Kind of See’s Candies Store in San Francisco Now Open

50 people in a See’s Candies store? Yes, you read that right. This specific location is much larger than other ones. It features two counters and four registers to keep those lines busy during peak seasons. One feature that locals will appreciate is the available parking immediately in front of the store. The shop is located in the Safeway shopping center so there’s no shortage of places to park and its free! It is located in the Castro district but the area is busy and doesn’t look as sketchy as other parts of the area. Getting to the new See’s Candies store is super easy from the US 101 too.

The main highlights were wine and chocolate. More specifically, certain chocolate varieties were on display to sample with a perfectly paired wine or beer. For any pieces that weren’t out for sampling, we were encouraged to ask the servers behind the counter for whatever we wanted. It was like an open chocolate bar with all you can eat candy. Imagine Willy Wonka’s factory but with black and white tile.

All-You-Can-Eat Specialty Chocolates and Candies

While everyone loved tasting all the goodies they could handle, the kids were especially thrilled. I’m sure many of them were bouncing of the walls at home while the sugar high wore off. Well, maybe not. See’s Candies are very rich and full of flavor so there’s only so much you can eat. I noticed several young ones limiting themselves with how many pieces they had, even telling their parents when they had had enough. Great tasting candy and built-in self-control is a pretty nice combination.

After the guests began to dissipate, we had more of a chance to look around and tour the store. Munchkin and I even got to look behind the counter, something that had always been a mystery to us before. Munchkin was impressed that any allergens were clearly stated on the inventory boxes. In case you didn’t know, all of See’s Candies chocolates and candies are gluten-free. No wonder Frans is always excited when See’s Candies enter our home. He can actually enjoy them and and know for sure that they won’t make him sick.

Non-locals don’t fear as you can have some of the famous goodies delivered to your home via Sees.com. But, if you do happen to be the area, try stopping by the new See’s Candies store in San Francisco. Here’s the address so you can put it in your GPS:

I was compensated to assist with the event but not to attend or provide coverage. All opinions are my own.

Other places should take after them about clearly listing allergies like that! Such a good idea! Also the fact that their things a gluten free is wonderful with this allergy becoming more and more common place.
