2013 Maker Faire in San Mateo California

Maker Faire & Toyota RAV4 EV Ticket Giveaway…

2013 Maker Faire in San Mateo CaliforniaIf you haven’t already, clear out your schedule for this weekend so you can attend the 2013 Maker Faire! On May 18th to 19th at the San Mateo County Event Center, inventors from all over to showcase their ingenuity and creativity in tons of fun ways.
One such ‘maker’ will be Toyota, who will be having a special event featuring the RAV4 EV, the latest electric car from Toyota only sold in California. Here are just a few of the activities you’ll find at Toyota’s booth:

  • Explore the RAV4 EV and speak with Executive Program Manager Sheldon Brown
  • Participate in the bicycle-powered slot car track (photo below)!
  • “Recharge” at The Maker Lounge with wi-fi and power outlets

I’m sure the “recharge” station will be a big hit with all the Facebook posts and Instagramming that will be going on! In previous years, the Maker Faire always fell on dates that my family had other plans.I really hope that, this time, we can take advantage of all the fun the fair will have to offer.

Toyota Rav4 EV Maker Faire BoothThanks to the generosity of Toyota, three families will win a 4-Pack of Weekend Pass tickets. That’s a HUGE saving as these tickets are usually $55 EACH ($220 value each, 3 Winners)! As the fair is coming up super fast, you only have today and tomorrow to enter this giveaway. I’ll send the tickets out Saturday morning to make sure to only enter if you can attend this weekend at some point.

I hope to see you there this weekend!

I am receiving complimentary tickets to the event for hosting this giveaway. All opinions are 100% my own.

We were thinking of attending, but weren’t sure, it’s a little drive, but if we won tickets that would seal the deal!

We’ve never been, sounds like a lot of fun. We would go whichever day works best for our schedules… and had the best weather forecast! 😀

It’s possible we’ll attend. I’ve only heard good things about the Maker Faire and we’re close and the calendar is actually open on Saturday. Maybe this is the year!

Can’t wait to see this! I homeschool our daughter, and the homeschool community in the East Bay is full of Makers… finally found my peeps. I can only imagine what it would be like to be in an arena full of Makers/Hackers/Doers!

Have fun everyone!

We went once a few years back. It’s fun to be inspired by all the ideas and projects presented at Maker’s Faire. We hope to go on Sat.

We haven’t been to a Maker Faire- should be fun!

Meera May 17, 2013 - 9:43 pm

We’re going both days! My kids (and husband) are so inspired after each visit. Its getting a lot more commercial and lot more crowded every year, but we still love it

We have been wanting to go for the past two years but just realizing how EXPENSIVE it would be we decided not to. A homeschooling family of 5 with only one breadwinner. This would make our weekend, though!

Grace Sakelson May 17, 2013 - 11:51 pm

Would love for my son and husband and family to go! We homeschool and are interested!

Erin M. May 18, 2013 - 7:51 pm

Thanks. It was fun! I’m sure we barely scratched the surface of what there is to do there. My girls brought home great copper bracelets they made.
