Several years ago my husband and I went car shopping and happened to peek into a Toyota Yaris. At that time the car was extremely tiny and there was only about 1″ of leg room in the back. Despite a not so hot first impression, we were willing to give the model another chance. I have to say that the 2015 Toyota Yaris surprised us in a very good way. Plus, it has a nice, modern look with features that can make it appealing to both men and women.

2015 Toyota Yaris Review – Power & Performance

With a good amount of power and tight handling, this compact is a fantastic commute car. Whether you have to deal with maneuvering in traffic or cruising on the open road, the Yaris will do what you want, when you want it. The size almost makes it perfect for city driving and doing errands around town. The 1.5L engine gives enough oomph for instant power but might feel a little shaky around 70 mph and up.

The layout is no nonsense. It reminds me of the time when cars just had the controls you needed and not all of the tech doohickeys and whatchamacallits of today. Adjusting the air conditioning or finding the hazard lights was a breeze. There’s even a spare tire on board and a retractable seat belt for the rear middle seat.

There’s actually plenty of space so my 5’11” husband was able to stretch out and spread in comfort. It’s quite a feat to make such a small car and not make the driver or passengers feel squished. There’s plenty of room for someone to sit in the back row even with the front seats moved back.

The hatchback style allows for more cargo area and will be able to handle a light trip to your local warehouse store. If you want to bring Rover along, he/she will have to sit on one of the passenger seats since it’s too tight in the back.

I’d definitely recommend the 2015 Toyota Yaris as a commute, first, or city car. The size is just right both inside and out while an average gas mileage of 32 mpg will help in keeping fuel costs down.
