The other day, my daughter’s cell phone was buzzing like a bee in heat. Why? Well, it all started with the group text message conversion she was having with two of her friends. Munchkin had to get up to do something so she set her phone down on her bed and walked to another room. All of a sudden, it started to go crazy!

Text Message Craziness

Apparently, her friends happened to get a case of the sillies and were sending text messages non-stop. Since the phone was set on silent, I kept hearing the muffled buzz from it vibrating every other second. I asked her to check her phone to see what was going on. There were 27+ message notifications! What was so important? Here’s a portion of the conversation:

Uhm, yeah. That’s that happens when you give some bored 13-year-old girls access to cell phones and the power of sending texts. Thank goodness we didn’t have a cap of how many messages were sent or were being charged per text. That was a long couple of weeks of winter break…

AT&T GoPhone Plan Benefits

I mentioned before how the AT&T GoPhone pre-paid plans are ideal for kids entrusted with their first phones. You don’t have to have an annual contract and the monthly refill plans are quite reasonable. On top of that, you don’t have any hidden fees when your kids get a little text message happy with their friends since nationwide unlimited talk and text is included.

The nice thing about this new $45 option is that more data is included. Unlimited data usage with 1GB at 4G/LTE high-speed (data usage exceeding the high-speed allowance will result in reduced data speed of up to 128 Kbps for the rest of your 30-day term. Actual speeds vary by device and location) is plenty for the occasional connection online but will teach young ones to be conscious of their data usage when their allowance suddenly slows to a snail’s speed.

Are they not doing too well in wielding this cell phone privileges? Then just let their plan run out and only refill it when they deserve another shot to use it right. It’s a great training platform without having to cost you an arm and a leg for irresponsible tween/teen usage. GoPhone is compatible with most phones so it will even work with an older iPhone you might be passing down to them.

Save on AT&T GoPhone Now!

You still have time to take advantage of the special going on now too. Get $30 off GoPhone smartphones over $99 and $10 off GoPhone smartphones under $99 until February 28, 2015.

That’s so funny, it’s something I would send on Facebook to my sister to mess with her.

Teenagers can be so funny with texting, I’m glad there are plans that can handle the sheer amount of texting they do!

I wish they had parental controls which would make it perfect option.

That $45/month rate plan is a dream! Although our ten year old is closely monitored with her GoPhone, her friends always enjoy sending her text messages and cute poems.

Our 14 year old has been begging for a phone and we are just about ready to make the jump. I see similar conversations that seem somewhat pointless to us parents with snapchat… silly faces, silly texts… That $45 plan is very attractive!
