Cafe Claude on Claude Lane - San Francisco Restaurant with live jazz and amazing French foodThis place has wonderful food and live jazz music Thursday-Saturday which begins at 7:30pm. It’s located in a small alley way and seems completely different than the bustling San Francisco streets surrounding it. There were actually a few other obscure cafe-type restaurants along this twinkle-lit road.

I’ll start with the most important part first – the food. Have you ever eaten something so delicious that you actually savored each bite? That basically describes everything on the menu here! It is a bit more than you might pay at Elephant Bar but the quality is on a whole other level. My husband had the Coq Au Vin which he absolutely loved, and my husband doesn’t often feel that way about food. I had a wonderful pork dish with caramelized pears but it looks that that is no longer available. *sniff* Dessert was equally amazing with the Tarte Aux Pommes and Crème Brulée. I’m actually starting to drool just thinking about it…

The live jazz added another dimension of enjoyment to our special evening out. Make sure to check online to see which band(s) will be playing. It’s kind of funny, though, how the group has to set up in this tiny corner of the venue. We could not see the band from our table but the music was piped through the restaurant. It’s not crazy-loud but get there a bit before 7:30 so you can order and have a nice chat before the entertainment begins. The front part of the restaurant is more like a cafe/bar but the back portion had nicely set tables.

The restaurant itself is cozy, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere sets such a nice mood. What a great way to get away from the kids and celebrate being a couple.

We’re going to be visiting San Fransisco in a few weeks, so I’ll definitely have to check this out!

I hope you had a great visit…or have you not come yet?

Unfortunately, we haven’t gone yet but we’ll be visiting the last week of March after we come back from Los Angeles. It’s been awhile since we’ve been to San Fransisco but last time we went we had a blast. Currently, I live in Sacramento and it’s been boring around here lately so we were just trying to get out to see some new scenery.
