CVS Gold Emblem Abound – Healthy Snacks + #GF for Travel

Disclosure: CVS provided compensation and healthy snacks to support this post. All opinions are my own.

Earlier this month, Frans and I had the chance to visit several spots in Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. We spent five days and four nights exploring highlights of these amazing National Parks and a cross contamination with any bit of gluten was not an option. Just one bit can cripple him with flu-like symptoms for at least 2-3 weeks and there’d be no way he could handle the hiking and on-going road travel.

The Perfect Road Trip / Travel Snack Companion

In packing for our trip, I made sure to bring a selection of Gold Emblem Abound snacks from CVS just in case. These have no artificial preservatives or flavors and contain 0g of trans fat. While the entire line is not gluten-free, many of the items are. These include a variety of items such as popcorn, trail mix, bars, rice crackers, and more.

It was the Blueberry & Pomegranate Superfruit Snack Bars that really saved the day for us though. These are not your typical 1mm thick fruit snack loaded with a ton of stuff except for actual fruit. No, these are substantial bars of almost straight fruit that’s tasty and filling.

CVS Gold Emblem Abound Healthy Snacks in Kings Canyon

One morning I was scrambling out of the lodge door to meet the rest of the group before they left for our morning walking tour. I knew there wasn’t any time to eat breakfast left but that I needed to get something to give me energy for the hike. The Superfruit Snack Bar was perfect. Just one of those (and a mini muffin I grabbed from the buffet) held me over the whole hike down to the massive General Grant Tree and until lunch.

Back at the lodge, Frans was still in the room. He wasn’t feeling too great since he didn’t sleep well (must have been the full moon) and opted to stay in to rest and finish packing. With the overload of food we had been eating during the trip, his stomach needed a rest and wouldn’t be able to handle a full-on buffet breakfast again with oodles of bacon, eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, etc. So what did he do? Yep, you guessed it. He just ate one of the Superfruit Snack Bars and was good to go until it was time to check out and head to our next location.

Staying Gluten-Free and Healthy on the Road

In addition to all the hard work the travel hosts put into making sure we had gluten-free options at all of our stops, these Gold Emblem Abound snacks helped Frans stay Celiac symptom free during our entire five-day trip. That’s a HUGE accomplishment when dealing with various restaurants and being isolated in areas in and around the National Parks. It would have been a disaster if one snack took Frans down during the event. Whew, was it a good thing we had these snacks in our car and backpacks at all times!

The nice thing about these is that you can save even more while stocking up with the CVS ExtraCare loyalty program. You can find coupons and accrue bonus bucks to use later. In fact, you can a $1 off coupon on Gold Emblem Abound items right now!

Which snacks do you always have on-hand while traveling?

I just tried these for the first time and I’m obsessed. The salt and pepper rice ones were my favorite.

I’ll usually snack on a Luna bar or whatever raw vegan bar I can find on sale whenever I’m on-the-go. I’ll definitely have to check these out, though!

You’ll be happy to know they have chocolate and chia seeds bars 🙂

I haven’t had those yet, but they look so good! I’m snacking on a berry edamame blend this week from the line though.

We’re big pretzel munchers when we’re on the go. I also like dried fruit like mango strips for something a little sweeter, so I’d probably really like those bars. (and I love your VB bag 🙂 ).

I try and have nuts and granola bars on hand when traveling.

That’s great that they have sodium free options too! Hubby has had to cut it out of his diet – his BP is through the roof! Great snack ideas 😀

We don’t have a CVS near us so we have not tried these, but we try to take healthy snacks on trips.

These sound great to pack on a trip. I like the CVS rewards program too.

We’re huge popcorn eater while we’re on the go! I do believe there’s an CVS here in Sacramento, so I’ll definitely have to check these out. I’m all for healthy and delicious snacks, especially while traveling.

I’ve tried the CVS Gold Emblem snacks before. They’re good for road trips and camping trips.

If I have snacks on hand, you can be sure they are healthy. These seem great and similar to some of our go-to items, like granola bars and trail mix.
