Delurking Day (Yes, That Might Mean You)

by TerriAnn

Okay, it means me too. It’s easy to read a blog but commenting on the post is another matter. It’s Delurking Day on the web so if you have one minute, please leave a comment (where you’re from, if you have kids, do you get coupons from the dumpster, whatever) That way I can connect the ‘stat’ with a real person and make this blog even better for you. Thanks!

I Just found your blog today through another blog’s link, mommy in the life of Riley.
I live in Alaska, recently started blogging, have 3 boys and another on the way, don’t dumpster dive for coupons but would possibly consider it…haha
I’m following you on Twitter, and look forward to visiting your blog more often!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 9:53 am

She’s got a great blog. You’re in Alaska? You must be thinking us California folk are wimps with our ‘cold weather’ – hehe, we are 🙂 Thanks for coming by and commenting!

Heather January 14, 2011 - 9:38 am

Hi! I’m in Calgary 🙂 Coupons from the dumpster? Ummm no.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 9:54 am

Sorry, that was a reference to this ‘Extreme Couponing’ series. I love to save because that means more for the family but I think there has to be some kind of balance. Great to meet you!

monique January 14, 2011 - 9:45 am

I’m a single mom of 5 and 7 year old girls. We’re in Columbia, SC and there is STILL snow on the ground!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 10:09 am

Can I just say ‘kudos’ to you? Raising kids is hard enough but to do it alone is nothing short of amazing. I have help from my hubby AND only one child and that already drives me nuts. Thanks for taking time out to introduce yourself. Nice to meet you 🙂

Karen January 14, 2011 - 10:12 am

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 10:35 am

Yay! So happy to have a fellow momdotter pop by!

Kriste January 14, 2011 - 11:07 am

Hi! I’m a mom of 2 teen girls. I live in Missouri. I coupon, but no dumpster diving. 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 11:54 am

Wow, teen girls… mine is only 9 but I’m convinced she started puberty at 2 yrs 😛 Would you consider yourself a casual saver or a hard-core couponer?

Jen M January 14, 2011 - 11:09 am

Thanks for visiting me!
Haha, I live in Vancouver and have 1 kid as of now. I have glanced in the recycling bin, but never saw anything 😀

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 11:58 am

Haha. We used to live in a condo and there was a box near the mail to toss unwanted ads/junk mail in. There were a few times we went in there if there was a particularly good one that the neighbors just tossed… As of now? Wow, brave woman – 1 is my max!

Anna January 14, 2011 - 11:22 am

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 12:39 pm

You have no idea how much I appreciate you taking out the time to let yourself be know. For bloggers, it can be pretty discouraging to spend day after day blogging but wondering if anyone actually reads them. Thank you so much and please let me know if you ever find something that you think like mothers would want to know. BTW, my hubby cracks me up too! Just wait for the post on the Lil’ Pirate iPhone app that’s coming up 🙂

Hi, I’m a new follower from Missouri (also following you on FB and Twitter). I’m a single mom with four kids (oldest is in the military), we have snow on the ground and I’ve heard of people who dumpster dive for coupons, but I never have 🙂

Missouri, wow, never been there. Well you must be a strong and resilient woman to raise four kids on your own. Yeah, I wouldn’t personally recommend diving for coupons – that’s a bit on the ‘loopy’ side if you know what I mean…

The Hungry Housewives January 14, 2011 - 1:01 pm

My name is Alisa and recently I won the Powermat giveaway (YEAH!). I have 3 kids (5, 12,16), married my HS sweetie, own a lab, and am a Blogger at http://www.thehungryhousewives.blogspot.com
Right now a bunch of girlfriends and I are putting on an all day Crop For A Cause to raise money for MS research so we are SUPER tired LOL
Thank you so much for blogging!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 1:09 pm

Hey there Alisa! I hope you really like your Powermat when it comes in. New gadgets are always cool. That’s so great of you and your friends to do that. I have actually forsaken my scrapbooking projects since I started blogging :O Keep up the good work too!

nanjhall January 14, 2011 - 1:30 pm

LOL…I have never gotten coupons from a dumpster, but for some reason that gave me a good chuckle:)
I live in VA, just moved from the beach to the mountains, no kids at home so lots of time to enjoy the parks, wilderness and mountains once it gets a little warmer.
And I am very much a lurker so today I came out of the closet! Have a wonderful weekend.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 1:38 pm

Haha, congrats on moving up in life 🙂 Wow, let me know how you like the mountains – I’m very much a ocean/water girl myself. Don’t forget the the National Parks are free this weekend if you plan on exploring! Nice to meet you!

The Mom Jen January 14, 2011 - 2:02 pm

Alicia J. January 14, 2011 - 2:08 pm

My old cat, Lionel, loved to jump into open dresser draws. He also loved the hallway closet, thank goodness it had a sliding door.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:01 pm

Cats are so weird 😛 Thanks for sharing!

Owen's Mom January 14, 2011 - 2:08 pm

I am a SAHM of 2 toddlers. We live on a family farm in OR.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:01 pm

A farm? Like a real working farm with corn and sheep, hay and cows? So glad to have you here!

Mama Chocolate January 14, 2011 - 2:13 pm

I’m a SAHM of two sweet girls! 😀

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:02 pm

Wow, you gotta give me some of your chocolate – maybe I’ll think my little girl is sweet too. Haha, just kidding. Thank you for dropping by, so happy to meet you!

SassyScorp January 14, 2011 - 2:13 pm

How funny! I just blogged today about growing disenchanted that I have zero to few comments (yet have over 300 followers!) Great minds right? LOL.

I am a single mom to a 3 yr old princess (yes, she calls herself a princess). I work, I go to school, I parent…sleep optional. 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:09 pm

I think lack of comments and blogging go hand in hand. On a good day I usually get…uhm…none – haha! Thank you so much for helping to break that pattern. I’m really tickled pink that so many wonderful people, including yourself, took a minute or two to say ‘hi’. Thank your little princess for sharing you for a bit (it’s fine she calls herself a princess, just as long as she’s not 17 😛 )

Bethany Larrabee January 14, 2011 - 2:19 pm

Hello! I am also a fellow MomDotter! I am a SAHM of 3 kiddos. I live in Maine and I am the owner of http://musingmainiac.com. I used to be an avid couponer, but I had to move into a tiny condo and had to drastically cut my stockpiling habit 🙁

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:14 pm

Isn’t momdot an AMAZING community? I think the great gals there are the reason I’m still blogging (all 8 months 🙂 ) Maybe moving to a smaller place was a good thing for you, although I won’t know who to borrow toilet paper from anymore – j/k. Thanks for commenting!

amber w. January 14, 2011 - 2:31 pm

Small town Florida girl here. Think we are freezing to death because the high today was in the 50’s. I know I know many have it so much colder ,but to us that is BRRR. 3 kids ages 14, 12 and 2 years. Teenagers and Toddlers under one roof makes it interesting and yes FUN. No coupons out of the dumpster I am actually a terrible couponer ! Although I love a good giveaway or online deal and maybe 2011 will give me some coupon progress? Thanks for your blog.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:18 pm

When I read 14 then 2, my jaw dropped. I’m sure your house is always hopping! It seems that ‘saving’ is becoming more and more mainstream so I hope good deal will continue to come out. As for giveaways, I wish you the best. Random doesn’t usually like me but ONCE in a while I will win – hopefully you will too! Thanks for added your comment with your now frozen fingers 🙂

Auqakuh January 14, 2011 - 2:57 pm

Howdy! I’m a Canadian gal whose a bit of a contesting addict. No kids, no plans to have kids, but my common-law hubster and I just bought our first house earlier this year – no wait, LAST year! – and we’re loving it! Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:20 pm

Wow, you mean I’m kind of international? That is so fascinating. Congrats on your new house – you didn’t win it did you? Hey, I have a lot of respect for ‘sweepers’ for their dedication…but I get a bit jealous when they win and I don’t 😛 Thank you coming by and you have a great weekend as well!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:22 pm

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Thank for the note. Sorry, I never even thought about pictures in comments but this worked out perfectly! Thank you for popping by amidst giveaway entering – which, by the way, I wish you the best on.

Elysia January 14, 2011 - 3:23 pm

I’m a SAHM to a sweet and adorable 5 month old girl. I enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies, long moonlit walks on the beach (Ha! No..there aren’t beaches in the vicinity…Boooo..). You know, just your regular baby wranglin, cake bakin, novel writin’ lady.

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:27 pm

Haha, every time I read walks on the beach I think of Miss Congeniality! You have some amazing interests, many of which I enjoyed as well (I really don’t like reading and cooking is a dreaded chore). So nice to meet you and have fun with your little one. Mine’s turning 10 and it’s so weird!

Emily January 14, 2011 - 3:54 pm

Hi! I’ve been following you for a few months at least, not exactly sure how long, or where I found you at. hehe. I’m a 19 year old college student from Michigan. No kids, just me and my boyfriend of 3 years. Oh, and a cat. I’m a review/giveaway addict and have been reviewing for about 13 months now. 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:30 pm

Wow, so glad I can post things you enjoy (I know I post a lot of ‘mommy’ things). I think it’s amazing that you are already getting into the review scene – isn’t it fun to try things you would never had thought to buy…but really like it? Thank you for ‘delurking’ 🙂

Tree January 14, 2011 - 4:01 pm

Hi there! So sorry… I haven’t been visiting for a while.. just haven’t found that extra hour in the day yet. LOL In case you haven’t been to my blog in a while either… I’m Tree, wife of 23 years to Kevin, mommy to 5 beautiful kiddos, plus one lovely daughter-in-law, and grandmom to 2 precious little girls!! Busy lately with work, blog events, and such. I’ll stop by again soon! Take care!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 6:40 pm

Hi Tree, so have to have you here. Yes, I have been seriously lacking in the comment department myself. There is just so much going on in the blogging world and, even more so, IRL. Maybe our paths will cross in San Diego, Aug 5-6 *hint, hint, wink wink*

Tania January 14, 2011 - 4:19 pm

I’m a mom to a 20 month old (going on 20 years old) girl. She is a crazy dancing queen and loves to make me laugh! We’re city gals from NYC. I love this idea I may have to “borrow” it for my blog if you don’t mind! 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 7:27 pm

Are you serious?! Go right ahead – in fact, today was the first time heard about it myself. I didn’t think anyone would respond…but what an wonderfully unexpected turnout. About your daughter, hang in there – it only gets worse 😛

DAT's so Cute January 14, 2011 - 5:04 pm

Hi there! I’m a mom to two handsome little men and one handsome big guy. I started blogging in November, and love it! I’m pretty addicted! The picture of the cat is pretty adorable. I would love for you to visit my blog and comment anytime. I like to connect to my readers also. Come by and check it out at http://datssocute.blogspot.com. Thanks! BJ

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 8:29 pm

So nice to meet you and what a great intro to your family! I’ve so far been unsuccessful with connecting with my readers but today has been a different story. Thank you for participating.

Pauline M January 14, 2011 - 6:36 pm

Pauline here from Utah…. single mom with two kids 9 and 12. I will flat out tell you that my sister-in-law is a dumpster diver for coupons and very proud of it! I love hearing her stories. The best one so far is her flat screen that she bought from Costco going out. She actually took it back there, explained the customer service that it is returnable based on the return policy at the time of purchase and actually got her money back 🙂 me…. I don’t have the guts to pull that off!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 8:34 pm

Wow, just wow. I think it takes a certain type of person to do that and not feel any embarrassment, even being proud. Oh well, if they are that willing to work for it – I wish them the best deals possible!

Pauline M January 14, 2011 - 6:36 pm

Forgot to add, the flat screen was SIX, yes SIX years old!

Cookies & Clogs January 14, 2011 - 8:37 pm

Well, we did sheeplishly bring back a dvd/stereo system that was about 4 years but we felt it was reasonable. The tray wouldn’t open anymore and that was most of the point as it was our sound system as well. We even had the receipt and just exchanged it for the same exact one that was selling for the same price (though newer).

Wendy January 15, 2011 - 5:02 am

I’m Wendy from Michigan & I have a 2 /12 year old, being a single parent & working full time outside the home keeps me very busy, but I always manage to find time to read blogs & love the reviews & contest giveaways!

Cookies & Clogs January 16, 2011 - 10:28 pm

As I read your intro, the first thing I thought was “where does she find time to read blogs?” 🙂 Thanks for putting aside a couple of minute for Cookies & Clogs!

Hi – I homeschool my kids & train my dogs in Vancouver BC.

I hate to spend money 🙂

Cookies & Clogs January 19, 2011 - 5:49 pm

What a great intro! Which are easier to work with-kids or dogs? Just kidding, I think that’s fantastic. One of my brothers-in-law trains his dogs really well and they are amazingly sweet and obedient. Thank you for reading here!
